**OVERVIEW** ------------ Post Number : ED 378 Grade : G-5 Parent Sector : Education Sector (ED) Duty Station: Paris Job Family: Education Type of contract : Fixed Term Duration of contract : 2 years Recruitment open to : Internal and external candidates Application Deadline (Midnight Paris Time) : 16-MAY-2024 UNESCO Core Values: Commitment to the Organization, Integrity, Respect for Diversity, Professionalism ***Only candidates who are entitled to work in France can apply to this position*** **OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST** ----------------------------------------- Under the overall authority of the Assistant-Director General of the Education Sector, overall guidance of the Chief of the Executive office and the direct supervision of the Chief of the Unit of Financial Management and Administrative Support Unit, the Information Technology Assistant shall provide decentralized information technology (IT) support to the Education Sector to complement and supplement the centralised support provided by the Administration Sector. The incumbent will provide basic technical support and assistance on hardware and software systems applications to users of eth Education Sector based at Headquarters, in collaboration with the Bureau for Digital Business solutions (DBS), including all personnel of the sector connected to UNESCO’s network. The incumbent will specifically perform the following: - Install, test and configure new workstations, peripheral equipment using standard hardware, images and software for the Education Sector . Ensure that each workstation has a computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, hard drive, and any additional specialized equipment according to standards; ensure that each workstation is connected and works properly (access to applications, email, File shares, Internet, etc.); assign computers to proper groups in Active Directory. Ensure correct write off of old ICT equipment as per established policy and procedures and in liaison with DBS. - Monitor and respond quickly and effectively to requests received through the IT helpdesk tracking system (START) or telephone, providing expertise and advice to users to help diagnose and resolve their computer or system equipment issue. Use remote access to take control of the computer and remedy the problem. Modify configurations, utilities, software default settings, etc. for the local workstation as necessary. Resolves problem calls or service requests of moderate complexity. Ensure an updated inventory list of all ED sector IT equipment including a physical count once a year to reconcile equipment with the inventory list. - Provide support on software development matters, including security, data integrity and recovery; assist with needs assessment for new systems (including modifications to existing systems); request, implement, provide operational support and maintain various applications. Assist in testing and evaluating new products and technologies. - Recommend acquisition of hardware, software, devices, tools, etc., to facilitate work.
