The overall purpose of the role:

The IT assistant will directly deliver the blended online and off-line digital skills training to youth and support technical IT programming across DRC Jamjang area office, in accordance with DRC and Donor country strategy. The IT assistant directly reports to the Area Manager but also works closely with the IT officers and Economic recovery team for technical support. The UNHCR project 2024 will target un-skilled youth, thus this incumbent should have ability and training skills on blended computer programs suitable for youth in the current context. Experience in digital online training for youth will be key attributes required for the role. The incumbent will provide technical support to the UNHCR ICT project with supervision from economic recovery team

Roles and responsibilities

  • Provide blended digital online and off-line training to un-skilled youth selected through competitive processes.
  • Perform software installations and maintain day-to-day systems operations including support to e-mail and Internet functionality at Ajoungthok digital learning centre and DRC Jamjang base.
  • Troubleshooting the LAN and wireless connections for all ICT equipment at the digital lab and DRC Offices
  • Maintain up to date inventory of all computers, audio/video communication equipment’s and software in the program, ensuring compliance with asset management policies (Hardware, software policies)
  • Oversee software and network security and ensure that the anti-virus within the organization is updated on a timely basis.
  • Perform preventive maintenance service on the IT equipment on a scheduled basis.
  • Perform general repairs on some IT equipment and peripherals.
  • Support supply chain in liaison with internet provider and maintenance of internet systems
  • Support as technical lead in planning, specification, design, development implementation of computer applications systems
  • Document network/ ICT equipment problems and resolution for future reference while monitoring system performance and implementing performance tuning.
  • Assist staff with AD hoc IT support required (emails, share point, teams, one drive)
  • Carry out capacity building and on the job training for staff as required.
  • Perform any other duty as assigned by the management.

Experience and technical competencies:

  • At least one-year experience in similar position
  • Advanced English proficiency
  • Fluency in local language/ Juba Arabic preferred
  • Experience in working with international NGOs in challenging humanitarian context

Desirable:

  • An understanding of the South Sudan context or security-sensitive environments and enforcement of team security protocols is an asset
  • Previous Experience in delivering online and off line digital training

Education:

  • Degree or Diploma in IT
  • Profound ICT skills and experience
  • Strong communication both verbal and writing skills
