Result of Service

The development of a web-based tool (nature of the tool to be determined) for the responsible team to prepare salary scales, along with the development of the related SOP/Guide and training of the responsible team members to use the web-based tool.

Duties and Responsibilities

The IT Analyst will report to the Chief of the Compensation and Classification Section, which is part of the Global Strategy and Policy Division in the Office of Human Resources, Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance. The Compensation and Classification Section is responsible for the issuance of salary scales for locally-recruited staff members in the United Nations common system (published on the following website: https://onehr.un.org/). The salary scales are currently created through an excel-based macro, which pulls information from other excel-based spreadsheets, but which is no longer fit-for-purpose due to a number of policy changes. The IT Analyst will evaluate the needs of the section, and after consultation with the Chief of the Section, make the required changes to the current tool, or develop a new tool. The IT Analyst has the following responsibilities: • Recommend options for a web-based tool, which shall include technical specifications, to replace the current off-line set-up/macro • Develop the web-based tool selected • Test the web-based tool to ensure it only produces correct results and implement updates when the tests would require the same • Develop an SOP on the use the web-based tool • Train the members of the responsible team on the use the web-based tool

Qualifications/special skills

An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Information Technology, Computing, Computer Science or related fields is required. A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in supporting an organization and/or company in ICT solutions with a specific focus on building web-based solutions, such as SharePoint, is required. Minimum of three (3) years of experience with Microsoft Office tools and excel-based macros is required.

Languages

For this consultancy, fluency in English is required.
