You have:

  • At least High School Degree with relevant experience
  • Previous experience in field data collection, surveys, or assessments is desired.
  • Prior experience working with migrants, refugees, or displaced populations is a strong advantage.
  • Experience using digital data collection tools (e.g., KoboToolbox, ODK) is desirable.
  • Fluency in Turkish and any other language proficiency is an advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to interact respectfully with people from different backgrounds.
  • Ability to adapt to dynamic field conditions.

IOM works to promote international cooperation on migration issues, to assist in the search for practical solutions to migration problems, and to support the systematic and humane management of migration in order to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need.

IOM will conduct data collection activities in the field on Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) in close coordination with the "The Promoting Sustainable and Socially Inclusive Labour Market Integration" Project’s stakeholders, including the Presidency of Migration Management (PMM).

Enumerator will be reporting to IOM and will work under direct supervision of IOM’s Senior Project Associate and Field Coordinator.

The UN Volunteer will: • Conduct quantitative and qualitative interviews in the field with individuals from both host and migrant communities • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards • Report daily progress to the Team Leader and inform them of any issues or incomplete interviews • Conduct interviews in a respectful and culturally appropriate manner • Utilize established mobile data collection tools • Submit daily updates to Team Leader on progress, challenges, and observations • Perform any other duties assigned by the direct supervisor

The UN Volunteer will be based in the advertised duty station and responsible for arranging her/his own housing and other living essentials.

Summary of National UN Volunteer Entitlements: (Paid in local currency) • Monthly Living Allowance (MLA) is USD 645.93 (Paid in Turkish Lira) • Private insurance: Health, dental, life, and dismemberment (coverage by CIGNA) As per UN’s diplomatic mission status, it is not included in National Security Institution’s (SGK) system, but can be only initiated on private basis. • Entry allowance: USD 10

Notes: 1) The allowances are in no way to be understood as a salary, compensation, or reward in exchange for the volunteer work. 2) It's important to note that UNV assignments are volunteer assignments, not employment. 3) An additional IOM security clearance for the shortlisted candidates may be required for this assignment.

The support provided by the UN Volunteer for this assignment serving with IOM in Türkiye is a UNV Special Programme Initiative (SPI). SPIs respond to volunteer-specific needs of the United Nations system and donor entities. They are established by specific policy documents that address the desired programmatic aims and broader SDGs' outcomes in line with UNV guiding principles. UN Volunteers for this SPI in Türkiye are governed by the particular conditions set out in their offers and contracts.
