Overview

Provide accurate interpretation and audio recordings from English to Rohingya.

You have:

  • A university degree (Bachelor's or equivalent degree) in the relevant or related fields is required.
  • A university certificate or a diploma with additional 2 years of relevant professional experience in interpretation may be accepted in lieu of a university degree.
  • At least four (4) years of relevant professional experience in interpretation is required.
  • Experience providing interpretation or translation services in support of criminal investigations or related subjects is desirable.
  • Experience working in field missions within the United Nations Common System or other international organizations is desirable.
  • Fluency in English and Rohingya is required.
  • Knowledge of another language of Myanmar is desirable.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Front Office and/or the Collection, Analysis and Sharing Section (CASS) of the IIMM, the Interpreter shall be responsible for the following: • providing accurate interpretation from the English language to the Rohingya language and vice versa of documents and materials that will be provided on an ad-hoc basis. • providing audio recordings in Rohingya of interpreted text that will used on the Mechanism’s outreach products distributed on Facebook, IIMM website and other channels. • meeting periodically with the Mechanism's language services team to discuss lexicons and other issues. • other tasks as may be required.
