The World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. We are currently seeking to fill a vehicle tracking intern position in the Global Fleet Unit of the Supply Chain Division, home-based.
Global Fleet Unit (Supply Chain Division)
The Global Fleet Unit is part of WFP’s logistics response and owns, leases and globally operates around 900 trucks of different configurations, trailers and workshop facilities throughout 26 Country Offices. The WFP Fleet is deployed to fill critical gaps in local transport capacity and stabilize transport rates in the event of increased insecurity and/or sudden growth in demand, as well as pioneer new routes that, due to prevailing insecurity, would remain inaccessible to local transporters. The unit centrally manages WFP’s global pool of trucks, reducing operational costs, supporting optimized use of vehicles, and allowing WFP to be flexible and responsive by providing vehicles suitable for every operational environment. To ensure the safety and security of staff and assets, WFP deploys vehicle tracking units to their assets and maintains a central system to allow monitoring of their fleet operations.

Duties and responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the VTS focal point, the candidate will perform the following duties:
- Provide VTS platform support to WFP country offices, such as managing user access, configuration management, providing information, etc.
- Liaise with WFP technical team and/or provider to solve support requests of a technical nature
- Provide administrative support to the fleet teams, country offices and partners for the purchase and shipping of VTS devices and/or components when needed
- Generate/prepare VTS based KPI reports periodically and/or on demand of COs
- Gather and update billing information for VTS units in use, and support VTS airtime subscription management
- Keep record of support requests from the field, for improvement, performance measuring, and training purposes
- Assist with the return/replacement of faulty devices and components
- Align VTS data with the corporate fleet management system
- Assist in coordination of trainings (webinars, online trainings, or physical training)
- Provide administrative and logistics support required for the successful implementation of project activities
- Assist in the preparation of project documents and communications products
- Undertake other related tasks and duties when required.
Qualifications and experience
- Currently enrolled with at least two years undergraduate studies completed, or recently graduated (within the past six months) in Business, Logistics, Engineering or related field
- University course attendance in the past 12 months
- Excellent command of English; Working knowledge of a second UN language would be an asset
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)

Supervision (Level/Methods of Supervision)
Under the direct supervision of the VTS focal point, the incumbent will be provided with close mentoring, guidance and technical supervision. Performance planning and reviews as well as learning and development discussions will be elemental part of the supervision. The head of systems will be the second-level supervisor. With the support of a comprehensive induction package and assignment of a buddy/mentor, the intern will rapidly become a productive member of the team.

Throughout their assignment WFP interns have access to an industry leading learning platform, weLearn. Depending on opportunities and availability of funds, he/she may participate in WFP workshops or seminars, as appropriate.

- Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the maximum amount of US$1000 per month depending on the duty station of assignment.
