# Internship – Human Resources, Staff Relations Branch

The World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. We are currently seeking to fill a minimum 3-month intern position in the Staff Relations branch of the Human Resources Division.
Brief description of the Staff Relations Branch, Human Resources Division (HRMSR):
HRMSR provides strategic advice to senior management in connection with grievances and disciplinary matters. The branch's goal is to protect the integrity and efficiency of WFP, while also ensuring that WFP's internal justice system reflects principles of fairness and due process. In addition, HRMSR works with managers, other offices, and representative staff bodies to promote a healthy workplace environment and constructive staff-management relations, including through consultations on policy initiatives and through informal resolution of grievances and potential workplace conflicts.

Duties and responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of an HR Officer, the candidate will perform the following duties:
- Analyse and assess evidence collected in cases involving alleged employee misconduct;
- Review relevant internal rules, policies and procedures and conduct ad hoc research in relation to the interpretation of WFP’s regulations and rules in response to a request from management or following an employees’ grievances.
- Prepare case summaries, opinions, help with drafting advice, memorandums and correspondence in various areas, such as recommendations for management action.
- Participate in meetings on HR issues, write meeting minutes, prepare materials and general documents on the issues raised, etc.
- Manage and update electronic databases using various IT platforms.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor, as needed.
Qualifications and experience
- Currently enrolled with at least two years undergraduate studies completed, or recently graduated in Law or Human Resources Management within the past six months from the closing date.
- University course attendance in the past 12 months.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Minimum six months relevant work experience (e.g., human resources, legal or other comparable advisory work).
- Previous work experience in another international organization and/or the private sector would be an asset.

Supervision (Level/Methods of Supervision)
Under the direct supervision of an HR Staff Relations Officer, the incumbent will be provided with close mentoring, guidance and technical supervision. Performance planning and reviews as well as learning and development discussions will be a principal part of the supervision. With the support of a comprehensive induction package and assignment of a buddy/mentor, the intern will rapidly become a productive member of the team.

- Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the maximum amount of US$1000 per month depending on the duty station of assignment.
