How can you make a difference?

Purpose of the internship

Under the initiative taken by UNICEF-Somalia to build capacity and empower women through internship, the intern under C4D section will assist the Chief, C4D and C4D Specialist/ UNV in maintaining U-Report portfolio and materials for training, print and electronic media. The intern is also expected to support the Chief of the section in knowledge management related activities.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Assist in maintaining U-Report

  • Closely work with the C4D Specialist/ UNV and Technology for Development unit under ICT section in day to day maintenance of U-Report related application like RapidPro.
  • Work closely with C4D and section colleagues in crafting messages for U-report related broadcasting.
  • Extract data from the database, analyze using a suitable application (excel, powerbi etc.) and prepare a dashboard for reporting.

Crafting key messages for different programme interventions

  • As per request from the programme section and need of the C4D section, craft key messages in Somali and English under the guidance of the C4D Chief/ Specialist

Assist in the design and development of training aids

  • o Assist in designing and developing of various training aids. o Pretest effectiveness of training aid in different settings. o Prepare write-up/ guidance for focus group discussions

Assist in documentation

  • Assist section in preparing meeting minutes/ workshop reports o Compile information from field offices, and prepare a periodic update for the section.

Work Relationships;

The successful candidates would work closely with the C4D Team, especially with the Chief, C4D Section, and C4D Specialist/ UNV.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Posses a first-level university degree, or be enrolled in a degree programme in Social Sciences, Journalism, Mass Communication, Business Administration and any other related field.
  • Have no immediate relatives (e.g. father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office plus no other relatives in the line of authority that the intern will report to.
  • Demonstrate fluency in English and Somali, both written and oral.
  • Posses knowledge of relevant computer systems and applications; excellent knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), powerbi is desirable.

The selected candidate will be identified through a transparent process involving a test and/or interview; The intern will sign the Statement of Understanding of Internship/Fellowship Conditions before report to work The intern should have medical insurance. The intern will be requested to submit a short report of internship The supervisor will assess the intern’s performance, and a Final Evaluation for UNICEF Interns will be provided
