How can you make a difference?

UNICEF's Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) Division is the driving force behind all private sector engagement activities by National Committees and country offices to raise income and increase influence across the entire sector which includes business, governments, and individuals. The PFP Marketing and PR for Fundraising section provides UNICEF national offices with guidance and technical support for their public outreach efforts, including individual donations, corporate engagement, and brand and communications.

The assignment is about supporting the Brand manager develop, update and maintain strategic guidelines and tools to enhance brand building strategies. The internship will be an opportunity for a high-performing student to learn more about UNICEF’s fundraising among private sector and specifically strategies and techniques on how to build and sustain a brand identity in the context of a non-profit sector.

Main tasks

Under the guidance of the Brand expert, the selected individual will manage all aspects of the completion of the following projects, from objective settings to deployment among the network:

1. Brand identity guidelines and tools - support country teams to champion UNICEF’s brand identity

- Maintain and update existing presentations and documents with latest available data and by doing secondary research. Organize a webinar to deploy the brand tools within the UNICEF network.

- Develop onboarding programme related to UNICEF’s brand identity and its related documents.

- Maintain and update various presentations with latest brand perception data (UNICEF source) to support country teams understanding UNICEF’s brand performance.

- Create presentations once a month related to brand marketing case studies identified on WARC (World Advertising Research Center) and share it internally with relevant teams.

2. Content curation - ensuring the best creative assets and insights are available for country teams to leverage across their digital channels:

- Develop strategic recommendations for digital channels that support the alignment of the organization’s brand globally.

- Identify UNICEF social media posts from global accounts to be added to the SoMe brand building package for country teams around the world and update accordingly the SoMe package.

- Identify UNICEF creative assets in the UNICEF assets management system that supports the brand strategy.

3. Non-profit organizations benchmark - understanding the landscape in which UNICEF operates its fundraising among the general public and high value audiences:

- Identify brand & campaign videos from comparable organizations (by monitoring social media accounts) regularly and compile information into existing tracking file. Report findings monthly to the Marketing team.

- Maintain and update benchmark documents (related to key brand attributes) by finding relevant information on websites.

- Be enrolled in graduate, or Ph.D. degree programme in Business Administration or Marketing, or be a recent graduate within the past two years.

- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in English is required

- Applicants must be at least 18 years old

- Have the ability to follow a brief and deliver on time

- Be ready and willing to take direction well and work in a dynamic, collaborative, multi-cultural environment

- Have a general understanding of and interest in world affairs, current events and humanitarian issues

- Have your own laptop

- Excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records

- No immediate relatives (e.g., father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office; and have no other relatives in the line of authority that the intern will report to
