Duties and Responsibilities

The internship will start on 2nd September 2024 for a period of four months and may be extended up to a maximum period of six months. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week under the supervision of the Chief of the Distribution Unit in the Production and Support Service. The intern will assist with the following duties: - Participate in planning and reporting of Distribution services - Assist in the various distribution activities of official UN documents for conferences and meetings held at UNOG. - Participate in the development and implementation of new initiatives aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of document distribution processes - Assist in providing Kiosk and Helpdesk services to conference attendees. - Support the documents distribution team in their conference support functions. - Assist in loading UN Journal entries for conferences reflected on the official meetings calendar. - Assist in preparing data analytics reports using Excel and/or Power BI. - Participate in the testing of new products and functionalities in systems used by the Distribution Unit. - Perform ad hoc functions and duties as required.

Qualifications/special skills

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (Bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or Ph.D. Programme. English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in French or English is required.
