Home-Based (with Travel to Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, and Tunisia

1 May to 31 October 2024 (55 WD on a span of 5 months)
Duties and Responsibilities
The consultant will develop a contextualized training package material in line with UNODC’s Toolkit on Mainstreaming Human Rights and Gender Equality into human trafficking and migrant smuggling interventions, as well as the UNODC Toolkit on mainstreaming Gender and Human Rights in the implementation of the UNTOC, in consultation with the relevant national counterparts (HR national councils and relevant migration national committees).
Qualifications/special skills
Education:An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in human rights law or related field is required. A first-level university degree in the aforementioned fields in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying work experience, may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Experience: A minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience in human rights, law , criminology, or another criminal justice field is required. Strong knowledge in gender and human rights and smuggling of migrants is required. Working experience in training and capacity building, including the development of training materials, designing and delivering of training is required. Working experience in designing and delivery of training targeted to women is desirable. Working experience with delivery of training to criminal justice actors, human rights councils/institutions is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English (i.e. oral and written proficiency and excellent drafting skills) is required. Knowledge of other official UN languages (Arabic) is an advantage.
