Purpose of Activity/Assignment: The UNICEF Botswana Country Office (BCO) engages in strategic and high-level advocacy and uses its leveraging, convening, and coordination abilities to seek stronger collaboration with the private sector to achieve results for children in Botswana, especially the most vulnerable. The current five-year country program (2022 – 2026), focuses on the importance of leveraging private sector partnerships to support policies, practices, and resources that complement the achievement of tangible results for children. BCO aims to integrate business sector engagement by mainstreaming the relevance and potential of the business sector across all of the organization's programming.

The UNICEF global Business for Results Strategy(B4R) identifies leveraging the power of markets and business to benefit children as a key strategy for delivering results for children. To operationalize the B4R agenda in Botswana, the BCO has conducted a B4R deep dive/training to equip country office staff with skills to be able to integrate B4R in planning and programming, in line with the present country program. Against this backdrop, Botswana Country Office is looking for an experienced Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Consultant who has worked in the field of CRBP ( child rights and business principles), financial and non-financial engagement with the private sector for more than 3 years and is willing to share skills, experiences, and networks to support BCO efforts towards engagement with the private sector.

Scope of work

The purpose of this assignment is to: • support the BCO to develop a plan of action with the private sector and members of the CEO Council for Children’s Rights. • lead the development of a private sector engagement plan and pitch materials to (potential) private sector partners (local and global) • assist with the preparation of knowledge management products, for internal and external use. • support with modalities for youth engagement related to the private sector portfolio.

Work Assignment Overview: Support BCO to strengthen private sector engagement and mobilize resources by identifying partnerships and funding opportunities at the local and global levels. The incumbent will help the country drive both financial and non-financial engagement with the private sector in alignment with the current CPD.

Knowledge management products to be used on national and international websiteAugust 10%Administrative issues and conditions The selection and conditions of service of consultant will be governed by and subject to UNICEF’s Policies and General Terms and Conditions for individual consultants/contractors. No contract may commence unless the contract is signed by both UNICEF and the consultant/contractor. Consultant/Contractor will be required to complete mandatory online courses (e.g. Ethics, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and Security) upon receipt of offer and before the signature of contract. Consultant/Contractor will be required to sign the Health Statement for consultants/contractors and to share an applicable proof of health insurance covering medical evacuation (if travel is involved) prior to taking up the assignment.

1. Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant. 2. Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws. 3. Consultant will be required to complete online courses related to Ethics, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and Security related trainings prior to taking up the assignment and/or travel. 4. Consultant will be required to sign the Health Statement for consultants/individual contractor prior to taking up the assignment, and to document that they have appropriate health insurance, including Medical Evacuation

Education

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Economics, Political Science

Experience

• At least 3 years of experience with UNICEF in the area of PFP/ private sector partnerships • Proven experience in engagements and partnerships with the private sector • Proven knowledge and experience in UNICEF planning processes • Experience in facilitating consultations with business sector and government representatives and other stakeholders • Understanding of B4R at UNICEF is considered a strong asset • Excellent writing and presentation skills • Graphic design skills are considered an asset

Additional Skills: • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills • Enthusiast about pushing limits and about the potential of the private sector
