What we do
Since 1863, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has worked to preserve human dignity and relieve suffering caused by war and armed violence.
In collaboration with our Red Cross and Red Crescent partners around the world, we do everything we can to deliver life-saving aid, reconnect families and locate missing people – helping those who need it most, regardless of who they are and what side of the front line they are on.
We engage with authorities and armed forces on all sides, often confidentially, pressing for access to detainees to improve their living conditions and urging compliance with international humanitarian law to protect non-combatants, including from digital threats.
Purpose
The Internal Reporter 1 supports the ICRC’s governance and management with weekly information on operational and diplomatic developments and global legal and policy initiatives.
S/he is part of a small team of two internal reporters based in Manila Global Hub. The line manager is the Deputy Secretary of the Assembly
Accountabilities & functional responsibilities
- Write, compile, edit and proofread articles for the BI, using internal reporting tools and information from internal sources (see below), with minimal or no guidance
- Stay on top of and search for all relevant information (contextual, operational and diplomatic developments) concerning a selection of the five operational regions (Africa, Americas, Asia, Eurasia, Name), to which Internal Reporters are assigned: operational activities and major changes/challenges/achievements, global legal and policy initiatives, in order to identify the most relevant information to record and publish in the Bulletin Interne
- Replace and/or assist the Internal Reporting Officer 2 and/or Deputy Secretary of the Assembly in training and other tasks, when needed
- Accomplish any other tasks necessary for the BI’s publication and evolution

The Internal Reporting Officer 1 needs more supervision/coaching from their experienced colleague/manager but must be able to work in an autonomous way.
- The internal reporting officer may also fulfil the responsibilities of a focal point, acting as an intermediary between the head of the unit based in Geneva (Deputy Secretary of the Assembly) and the rest of the team as well as Manila Global Hub colleagues for all logistic and other issues that are better managed in proximity and not from Geneva.
