Background of the project:

IRC has worked with refugees and other vulnerable populations in Jordan. IRC’s health program in Jordan focuses on urban interventions in the north and in both camps providing various health services for Syrian refugees and host community members including primary health care, reproductive health, community health through IRC clinics based in Ramtha, Mafraq ,a primary health care facility in Zaatari refugee camp.and RH clinic in Azraq camp. A Since 2016, IRC Zaatari clinic provides Primary health care and reproductive health services for Syrian refugee camps at Zaatari camp.

Main Responsibilities

The internist - part time will be based in IRC Zaatari camp facility. The internist - part time will cover 15 working days max. The position will be mainly responsible for providing a comprehensive medical care to adolescent and adult patient populations. Including diagnosis and treatment of chronic medical issues, referral of patients to the hospital in the camp when needed.

Internist Responsibilities:

1. Responding to medical/health problems presented by patients including history taking, diagnosis, investigation, treatment and referral as appropriate.

2. Request, perform, interpret, and analyze Lab tests (rationally) to diagnose patients' conditions. Perform a patient physical examination. Analyze test data or images to inform diagnosis or treatment.

3. Diagnosing and prescribing treatments for disorders and diseases. Conducting routine check-ups on patients and Provide technical guidance to the GPs deployed at the IRC health clinics in order to ensure good quality of primary health services provided to the beneficiaries.

4. Analyzes reports and findings of tests and examination and diagnoses condition of patient.

5. Ensure a rational prescription of medicines from the essential drug list of the camp or provide a medical rationale for exceptional treatment.

6. Determines and prescribes medication, dosage and schedule given the patient’s condition and allergies.

7. Discusses any possible side effects to medication with patient.

8. Educating patients about disease prevention and detection.

9. Keeping up to date with current practices and innovations.

10.Applied international case definition and disease outbreak criteria in the work place.

11.Maintaining confidentiality and impartiality.

12.Organizing preventative medical programmers for individual patients.

13.Meeting targets set by the IRC and international criteria for specific treatments.

Keeping detailed records of all patients and the treatments they receive

14.Keeping up to date with medical developments, new drugs, treatments and medications, including complementary medicine.

15.Maintaining a portfolio of continuing professional development (CPD) activities.

16.Maintaining and following a high quality of IPC measures and protocols.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor Degree in Medicine.

• MOH License and Education Certification and Internal Specialty Certificate

• Minimum 3 years of experience with two years in similar role

• NGOs experience is preferred

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies: 1-Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate with colleagues, families, etc. 2-Awareness and appreciation of the patient and the ability to empathize with and treat others with dignity and respect 3-An awareness of patient safety at all times 4-An interest in others and their wellbeing 5-Emotional balance, patience, tact and calm 6-Ability to work fast, accurately and make quick decisions. 7-Committed to helping refugees and working within IRC policies 8-Language Skills: Fluent in Arabic, good in English

Place of performance :

Working Environment: The IRC is providing Primary health Care services to the Syrian Refugees and vulnerable Jordanian communities in Mafraq and Ramtha through fixed clinics and mobile clinics and health care delivery at the primary level in Zaatari refugee camp. This position will be primarily based in the IRC health facility in Zaatari refugee camp but can be based at Mafraq and Ramtha health facilities or at the IRC field office when required. The security situation in the IRC intervention areas is generally calm and the security department of IRC shares regular security updates to keep the management and staff informed about the new developments.

- Collecting and recording community feedback while carrying out project activities. - Reporting on community needs, preferences, and feedback to their supervisor. - Promote and actively participate in initiatives and efforts to build team engagement, and cohesion in the IRC Jordan office. - Foster ongoing learning, honest dialogue, and reflection to strengthen safeguarding and to promote IRC values and adherence to IRC policies.
