With dwindling funds for humanitarian and development programmes in Mali, the office needs to tap into all opportunities through innovative and creative approaches including to find locally applicable solutions. Given the complexity and sensitivity of much of the engagement with donors and partners, the incumbent of the upgraded position is responsible for an innovative resource mobilization strategy, leveraging more resources and developing new partnerships, including with the private sector.

How can you make a difference?

Key functions, accountabilities, and related duties/tasks:

  1. Corporate Relations/Partnership Management

Identify and scoping potential corporate partners in line with the Mali Country Office programme priorities and section needs.

Support management of corporate partnerships and relations with potential, existing and past corporate partners.

Support capacity-building of corporate partners in Children's Rights and Business Principles including innovative approaches to support child rights among business operations.

Develop a tool gathering key business events to attend through the year and enabling networking

  1. Internal Corporate Engagement Liaison and Documentation

Track internal needs for potential corporate engagement initiatives and innovations. Facilitate documentation and sharing of lessons of Mali's best practices in CSR and children's rights as part of building organizations capacity on policy and programme delivery.

Develop best practices documentation that will provide input towards UNICEF country, regional and global CRS engagement.

Draft correspondence, writes notes for the record, follows up on agreements and decisions

  1. Supporting the Mali Private Sector Engagement Strategy

Map out and research the business sector, which includes corporations and industry bodies.

Keep updated the Mali Private Sector Engagement Strategy thank to weekly research and/or benchmarking on CSR and philanthropic sector.

Provide local analysis of the readiness of private sector engagement in Mali

  1. Participate and contribute to initiatives and events

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • A university degree is required in one of the following fields: international relations, political science, communications, international development, or another relevant technical field.
  • A minimum of two years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas is required : public affairs, programme management, resource mobilization, external relations, or other relevant area. Proven experience in private sector engagement.
  • Fluency in French and English(Written and oral) is required. Knowledge of an additional UN language is an asset.

  • Current knowledge of development issues, strategies, as well as programming policies and procedures in international development cooperation.
  • Strong communications skills, verbal and written.
  • Strong networking and negotiation skills
  • Strong familiarity with political and governmental processes
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and establish harmonious working relationships, both within and outside the organisation.
  • Advanced knowledge of partnership development and resource mobilization.
  • Ability to conduct sound policy analysis.
  • Ability to contribute to formulation of strategies and policies.
