Overview

Conduct research and analysis on migration and labor policies.

You have:

  • Advanced university degree (postgraduate, diploma or master's) in economics, demography, sociology, statistics, mathematics, or political science.
  • Proficiency in labor statistics and migration analysis.
  • Knowledge of quantitative techniques and prospective analysis.
  • Experience in preparing studies on international migration and employment oriented towards public policy.
  • Fluent in Spanish and basic knowledge of English (reading and writing).

Duties and Responsibilities

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean is one of the five regional Commissions of the United Nations. It was founded in 1948 with the purpose of contributing to the region's economic and social development. Its mission includes the design, monitoring and evaluation of public policies and the provision of advisory services, expertise, and training to Governments, as well as support for regional and international cooperation and coordination activities. Please visit our website at www.eclac.org for further information. The internship in the ECLAC Office in Montevideo will last 5 months, depending on the needs of the Office. Candidates may be selected throughout the posting period, on an "as-needed" basis. Under the supervision or overall guidance of the director Raquel Artecona. Bajo la supervisión de la la Oficina de Cepal Montevideo, el/la pasante deberá realizar las siguientes actividades: 1. Elaborar un índice comentado del estudio sobre “La población migrante en Uruguay: ¿con qué datos se cuenta? ¿Cómo se podrían fortalecer?” 2. Escribir un informe que identifique las fuentes existentes, sus alcances, debilidades 3. Identificar desafíos y recomendaciones para un análisis cuantitativo, de las áreas y focos que son necesarios de abordar para las propuestas de política pública en materia de fortalecimiento de la inclusión laboral de la población migrante en Uruguay.

Qualifications/special skills

Se requiere título universitario avanzado (posgrado, diploma o maestría) en economía, demografía, sociología, estadística, matemática o ciencia política.
