  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills; proficiency in Excel, at least one data analysis or visualization tool (ej. Power BI, Tableau, R, STATA, or similar) and use of AI.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, accessible products for non-technical audiences.
  • Fluency in spoken and written Spanish and English is required for the internship.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean is one of the five regional Commissions of the United Nations. It was founded in 1948 with the purpose of contributing to the region's economic and social development. Its mission includes the design, monitoring and evaluation of public policies and the provision of advisory services, expertise, and training to Governments, as well as support for regional and international cooperation and coordination activities. Please visit our website at www.eclac.org for further information. The internship in the Resident Coordinator Office in Perú will last 6 months, depending on the needs of the Office. Candidates may be selected throughout the posting period, on an "as-needed" basis. Under the supervision or overall guidance of the Development Coordination Officer and Data Management and Results Monitoring Officer, the intern will support in: • Support research and analysis on economic and sustainable development issues linked to the SDGs and national priorities (poverty, inequality, economic growth, macroeconomic and fiscal policies, social protection, economic and productive transformation, climate change). • Support collection, organization and analysis of data from national and international sources (INEI, MEF, IFIs, ECLAC, UN Data, UNINFO) • Support the preparation of policy briefs, country notes, presentations, and other analytical products. • Support maintenance of databases, indicator tracking tools, and monitoring dashboards related to the Cooperation Framework and contribute to data quality checks and verification of agency-reported results. • Support preparation of data visualizations and other communication materials for technical and non-technical audiences. • Support the coordination of selected activities, including meetings, workshops, and events • Participate in team meetings and other relevant activities of the Resident Coordinator’s Office. Output/Work Assignments: • Support project management by assisting the Team Leader, the Development Coordination Officer and Data Management and Results Monitoring Officer in the elaboration of documents; • Monitor and analyze national, regional and global economic and development trends and issues, • Promote data collection; develop reports, talking points, presentations, as needed • Participate in training and awareness activities. This will be regularly processed during the training with the supervisor's support.

Qualifications/special skills

Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program in Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Public Policy, International Development, or a related field. Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: • be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). • be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) Desirable Qualifications: • Strong quantitative and analytical skills; proficiency in Excel, at least one data analysis or visualization tool (ej. Power BI, Tableau, R, STATA, or similar) and use of AI. • Ability to apply development economics theory and specific global agendas/processes to the specific country context and carry out high-quality economic development research is desirable • Monitors national, regional and global economic trends and issues, and analyzes their implications for SDG achievement at the country level. • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, accessible products for non-technical audiences.

Languages

Fluency in spoken and written Spanish and English is required for the internship.
