You have:
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent).
- Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Excel, MS Teams is desirable.
- Ability to draft news articles and/or social media posts is desirable.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills is desirable.
- Proficiency in social media management and digital tools is desirable.
- Basic graphic design or multimedia editing skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, video editing software) are an asset is desirable.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural environment is desirable.
- Fluency in Spanish is required.
- Knowledge in spoken and written English is desirable for the internship.

Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Resident Coordinator (RC) system, part of the UN Secretariat since January 2019, brings together all UN development organizations to provide coherent, effective and efficient support at the country level. The RC is the highest ranking official of the UN Development System in each country and the designated representative of—and reports directly to—the UN Secretary General. As such, the RC leads the UN Country Team and coordinates UN support to achieve the goals of the 2030 Agenda through shared standards, capacities and collaboration across UN entities. The RC system strengthens unified UN action to advance nationally, regionally and globally towards development goals. The internship in the Communication Section of the Resident Coordinator's Office Paraguay (RCO) will last 6 months, depending on the needs of the Office. Candidates may be selected throughout the posting period, on an "as-needed" basis. Under the supervision or overall guidance of the Team Leader and the Communication Officer. The intern will support the team in the administration and communication section. Key responsibilities include: Producing simple and engaging communication products, with a particular focus on short videos, reels and visual content created with mobile phones and free software, as well as basic infographics and newsletters. Drafting, editing and adapting communication materials, including press releases, website content, social media posts, reports and briefing notes. Supporting the update and maintenance of UN’s website and social media platforms. Assisting with photography, captioning and basic video editing, ensuring content is accessible, timely and aligned with UN branding and messaging. Supporting media monitoring activities and compiling background information for press briefings, campaigns and public events. Assisting in the organization of communication-related events, including logistical arrangements and on-site coordination. Providing administrative support to the office, such as filing, organizing documents, scheduling meetings and supporting daily operational needs as requested by the Team Leader or other staff members. Helping maintain and update internal databases, mailing lists and communication tools. Performing other communication-related tasks as required.
Qualifications/special skills
The basic education degree is HS Diploma Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) For this internship, studies in the fields of study in Communications, International Relations, Journalism, Political Science, Public Policy, or related disciplines are highly desirable. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme. Do you meet any of the above criteria? If yes, please indicate which one and attach proof to the application. Please note that you will have to provide an official certificate at a later stage. Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in Spanish is required. Knowledge in spoken and written English is desirable for the internship. Knowledge of another UN official language would be an asset. NOTE: "Fluency" equals a rating of "fluent" in all areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and knowledge of equals a rating of "confident" in two of the four areas. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations.
