The Austria Multi-Country Office (AUMCO) was set up in August 2019 as a part of the UNOPS Europe & Central Asia Region (ECR). Background Information - Water, Environment and Climate (WEC)

The Water, Environment and Climate (WEC) Portfolio under the UNOPS Austria Multi-Country Office has built strong partnerships and has effectively been managing a portfolio of 490 million USD over the last 15 years to support key initiatives with fund management, project implementation and administrative support. WEC effectively operationalizes partners' agendas with global approaches, as well as regional and country specific activities focused on climate action, protection and conservation of the environment. Partners profit from WEC’s ability to operationalize and/or scale up their important substantive agendas, including in support of key multilateral environmental and climate agreements, such as the Paris Agreement, the Cartagena Convention as well as the Sustainable Development Goals.

The CLME+ region and the new 5-year UNDP/GEF PROCARIBE+ Project

The UNOPS/UNDP Project “Protecting and Restoring the Ocean’s natural Capital, building Resilience and supporting region-wide Investments for sustainable Blue socio-Economic development” (PROCARIBE+) is a 5-year project (co-) funded by the Global Environment Facility (May 2023 - April 2028) that aims to protect, restore and harness the natural coastal and marine capital of the region, to catalyze investments in a climate-resilient, sustainable Blue Economy, through strengthened regional coordination and collaboration and wide-ranging partnerships.

Functional Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Project Management Support Associate, the Project Management Intern will undertake the following activities/responsibilities:

  • Provide support to optimize project local operations and logistics
  • Support in the preparation of project operational registers and documentation.
  • Support communication with regional partners and suppliers
  • Support in the logistic implementation of project events.
  • Support the management of the project website and related content to be disseminated.
  • Support in the preparation of administrative reports and related forms.
  • Any other administrative and communication support tasks required by the supervisor and / or the Project Coordination unit

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education - Applicants must be currently enrolled in university to obtain an undergraduate degree or Master’s/Ph.D. or recently graduated from a university program at the Bachelor or Masters levels within three (3) years prior to the application date of the internship. - The area of study should be preferably Administration, Communications, International Relations, Environment, or similar.

Experience

  • Applicants are not required to have professional work experience
  • Experience working in international organizations, administrative management, research, or document database administration would be considered an asset.
  • Experience working with project operations and communications with external stakeholders is desired.
  • Proficiency in the use of the Google Suite applications is desired.

Languages

  • Fluency in written and spoken Spanish is required
  • Fluency in written and spoken English will be considered as an asset.

Contract type, level and duration - Internship

Contract type: Internship Contract level: N/A Contract duration: Up to 12 months

This internship is not designed to lead to a staff position with UNOPS. Therefore, there should be no expectation of employment at the end of the internship.

Interns may be eligible for a monthly stipend from UNOPS provided that they do not receive funds from other institutions. Further, UNOPS may provide a one time travel lumpsum of 500 USD. However, they must make their own arrangements for accommodation, travel and necessary visa arrangements.

Terms and Conditions
