- Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles and IT systems
- Familiarity with networks, operating systems, and security concepts
- Knowledge of cybersecurity tools or frameworks is an advantage
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to learn quickly and work in a fast-paced international environment
- Interest and motivation to work in the United Nations system and cybersecurity field
- Fluency in English is required (verbal and written)

The purpose of this internship is to provide hands-on learning opportunities within the UNICC Cybersecurity team while supporting cybersecurity operations and related technical activities across the organization. The internship aims to help candidates develop practical cybersecurity skills and gain exposure to various cybersecurity domains within the United Nations system.
Purpose of the Position
The purpose of this internship is to provide hands-on learning opportunities within the UNICC Cybersecurity team while supporting cybersecurity operations and related technical activities across the organization. Organizational Setting and Reporting
The incumbent(s) are expected to work 5 days per week (up to 40 hours) under the supervision of the Cybersecurity Unit Lead and designated mentors and will be provided guidance and support to perform the responsibilities mentioned below.
Duties and deliverables:
Duties and responsibilities of the Cybersecurity Intern will vary depending on the candidate’s educational and technical background but will include:
Supporting cybersecurity operations and assist in monitoring and protecting IT infrastructure
Assisting in ongoing cybersecurity projects and operational activities
Contributing to analysis, reporting, and documentation of security processes
Participating in training and mentoring activities to develop cybersecurity knowledge and technical skills

Experience
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience to participate in the UNICC’s internship program, but applicants should have the following functional and technical skills:
Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles and IT systems
Familiarity with networks, operating systems, and security concepts
Knowledge of cybersecurity tools or frameworks is an advantage
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to learn quickly and work in a fast-paced international environment
Interest and motivation to work in the United Nations system and cybersecurity field
Education
Be currently enrolled in a University programme (final year of a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or equivalent) specializing in areas relevant to UNICC’s line of business such as Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering
Applicants that have graduated in the last 6 months in one of the areas of expertise described above will also be considered
Languages
Fluency in English is required (verbal and written)
