Overview

Provide substantive and organizational support to UN Turkiye COP31 Task Team.

You have:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Master’s program in Environmental Science, International Relations.
  • Prior experience in event coordination, environmental advocacy, or research is an asset.
  • Good knowledge and research experience in climate change and climate financing is desired.
  • Fluency in English is required for the internship.
  • Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the overall guidance of the supervisor, the intern will: *Provide substantive and organizational support to UN Turkiye COP31 Task Team related to climate change and other thematics as required. *Assist in organizing meetings, consultations, and coordination platforms involving UN agencies, government counterparts, civil society organizations (CSOs), youth-led organizations, private sector, academia, and other stakeholders. *Support in preparation for background materials, draft agendas, take meeting minutes, and produce summary reports with clear follow-up actions. *Assist in research, data management, and compile analytical inputs on climate change, sustainable development, climate finance, resilience, biodiversity, and other priority themes relevant to COP31. *Contribute to the drafting of briefing notes, talking points, concept notes, presentations, and other knowledge products. *Assist in developing communication and visibility materials highlighting UN system engagement and support to COP31 preparations. *Contribute to internal coordination updates, tracking tools, and progress reports across the UN system *Areas of work may include: Circular economy and waste management; International environmental law; Programme planning and management; Meeting coordination; Communication and outreach; Other areas as may be assigned.

Qualifications/special skills

Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Master’s program in Environmental Science, International Relations Prior experience in event coordination, environmental advocacy, or research is an asset. Good knowledge and research experience in climate change and climate financing is desired.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
