Overview

Assist in providing intensive case management to refugee clients

You have:

  • Be sensitive to the cultural and personality differences of the refugee clients.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and interest in working with the refugee community.
  • Ownership of a car, a valid driver's license, and car insurance.
  • Willingness to transport clients in your personal vehicle.
  • Willingness to be flexible and accommodating to client needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Attend intern orientation

•Assist with client check-ins (over the phone or in person, as appropriate)

•Assist with ICM client intakes and assessments

•Provide transportation to appointments and attend appointments with clients, as appropriate

•Communicate with community partners for the purpose of case coordination

•Explore community resources and assist with client referrals

•Assist clients on an as-needed basis (this may include collecting signatures, completing paperwork, delivering items to clients’ homes, bill payment, mail checks, and navigating various systems, such as medical, mental health, education, transportation, benefits, etc.)

•Keep thorough and accurate case file documentation in the IRC electronic system

•Assist with organizing digital files

•Record hours and submit completed timesheet for each month via the IRC’s online Volunteer Dashboard

Qualifications •Be sensitive to the cultural and personality differences of the refugee clients. Respect their beliefs and values, which may differ from yours.

•Strong interpersonal skills and interest in working with the refugee community

•Ownership of a car, a valid driver’s license, and car insurance

•Willingness to transport clients in your personal vehicle

•Willingness to be flexible and accommodating to client needs

This position is unpaid and reports to the ICM Caseworker.
