Expected duration The initial Contract is from 01 January 2022 – 31 December 2022 (12 months) with a possibility of extension.

Duties and Responsibilities The UN’s Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT) defines the strategic direction for Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to the UN Secretariat. It oversees ICT programs, budgets, and decision-making to align with the Secretariat’s overall ICT strategy. The Strategic Solutions unit in India is supporting various ICT development initiatives for its HQ at Vienna, Austria. In this unit, we are looking for a passionate Instructional Designer and he/she will be responsible for conceptualization and creation of visual stories from different types of available content, available through various domains. The Instructional Designer will work with a team of highly motivated software developers and bridge the gap between subject matter experts and technical development, taking an active role on both sides and defining how the final product looks as well as how it impacts.

Within delegated authority, and in close cooperation with the Software Production Coordinator, the Instructional Designer will be responsible for the Duties and Responsibilities mentioned below:

o Determine clients needs and provide expert advice on the development, design and resusable components , modules and ductionalities using established standards for IT technologies o Designing the Course Outline as per the learning objectives and developing training material meeting the same o Provide expertise in researching, analyzing, designing, developing, customizing instructional materials o Working with different types of input material to create Instructional Content o Share the specialist knowledge and apply various Instructional Strategies, Models and Theories to Content o Visualizing Graphics and develop innovative ideas for e-Learning resources. o Use appropriate writing styles to make content easy to understand for the target audience. o Provide guidance and discuss ideas for images, graphics, and animations with team members before specifying them for development. o Liaise with Subject Matter Experts from other teams/departments/agencies on production, schedules, and deliveries. o Produce well-written audio and video scripts to produce high-quality course assets. o Handle SME co-ordination independently. o Communicate effectively with the development team. o Maintain project documentation and course folders during the project lifecycle. o Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/special skills Skills: Excellent project management and organizational skills Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical colleagues and clients Critical thinking skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous deadlines Academic Qualifications: A first-level university degree/diploma in any stream. Experience: A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in the planning, designing and development in the Instructional Designing field.

Having experience with technical writing would be an added advantage Language: Good command of English is required
