Duties and Responsibilities

The INSARAG Secretariat requires temporary support as the G Staff managing the IEC/R process retired and a replacement has not been hired yet. The globally recognised IEC/R process is the cornerstone of the INSARAG quality standards and having personnel dedicated to its management is vital for the INSARAG network. An external contractor is required for the performance of such duties. Under the direct supervision of the INSARAG Global Lead and Unit Head, the consultant will: • Ensure the composition of cadre of classifiers of IEC/Rs in 2024; • Collect, store and share the documentation between various stakeholders of IEC/Rs; • Organise and facilitate teleconferences with IEC/R stakeholders (INSARAG Secretariat, IEC/R Cadre, Mentors; host country representatives); • Manage the classifier roster, including keeping the roster up to date; • Produce an analysis of the roster of classifiers, identify gaps and suggest solutions; • Provide inputs on IEC/Rs for reporting and information products (e.g. overviews, factsheets, etc.); • Update INSARAG website and Virtual OSOCC with IEC/R information; • Perform any related duties as needed.

Qualifications/special skills

Bachelor's degree or equivalent, in international relations, disaster management, or related field. Sound knowledge of the INSARAG network and ERS portfolio is required Familiarity with the INSARAG USAR classification and reclassification procedures is required Proficiency in generating, analysing, and representing reports is desirable First-hand experience at OCHA ERS, supporting managers is desirable

Languages

Excellent command of written and spoken English is required; knowledge of any other UN language is desirable.
