We are currently seeking to fill an Innovation Accelerator Innovation Community Manager position in the INKA division, based in Munich, Germany.

Brief description of WFP Innovation Accelerator, INKA:

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

The World Food Programme (WFP) is the United Nations frontline agency fighting hunger. WFP reaches more than 100 million people every day, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with smallholder farmers, communities, and governments to improve nutrition and build resilience. The WFP Innovation Accelerator was named by Fast Company as Most Innovative Non-Profit Organization 2021 for its work in identifying, nurturing, and scaling disruptive start-ups and innovations to end global hunger. Based in Munich, Germany, the WFP Innovation Accelerator provides WFP employees, entrepreneurs and start-ups with funding, hands-on support, and access to WFP’s global operations. Through the Innovation Accelerator, WFP is leveraging unprecedented advances in digital innovation - such as mobile technology, artificial intelligence and blockchain - and new business models to transform the way it serves vulnerable communities across the world. In 2021, Accelerator supported innovations that positively impacted the lives of 8.6 million people globally. General Information:

● Title of Post: Innovation Community Manager ● Unit: Innovation Accelerator, Innovation and Knowledge Management Division (INKA) ● Country: Germany ● Duty Station: Munich ● Initial contract duration: 5 months ● Expected Start Date: 01.04.2022

Duties and responsibilities:

The incumbent, reporting to the relevant Head of Unit is expected to:

1. Design and implement a strategy to build, grow and sustain a long-term, thriving and active innovation community: a. Define an actionable strategy for the innovation community, including assessing needs across the accelerator and creating a roadmap to cover the identified gaps or opportunities, aligned with the broader support ecosystem strategy; b. Contribute to the development of community engagement tool kits and collection of base documents for process-standardization and best practice creation and sharing; c. Design communication tools and assets to support the innovation community; d. Conduct outreach activities to attract high-potential mentoring and support partners, including communication campaigns, organising events and speaking engagements. e. Support the design and implementation of collaboration models, in close alignment with the relevant Accelerator and HQ teams (including partnerships, business operations, procurement) - including definition of collaboration models, receipt of approvals and entering into agreements, as appropriate. f. Coordinate procurement processes to acquire services from external vendors, including the preparation of tendering documents and long term agreements, in close coordination with Accelerator and HQ procurement functions.

2. Coordinate, engage and sustain a thriving innovation community: a. Grow and curate the relevant innovation community, which may be mentors, support partner network, or WFP innovation champions, that are active across different programmes at the accelerator. b. Coordinate the Mentoring and Support Task Force, working closely with other teams’ focal points, to ensure internal alignment on support needs and delivery programs. c. Create guidelines and ensure their adoption by relevant team members to follow for community building best practices at programme level and optimize participants experience d. Organize virtual and in-person events and workshops to drive engagement and knowledge exchange across the different programmes led by the WFP Innovation Accelerator. e. Ensure the key relationships and facilitate check-ins with , creating opportunities that generate maximum value for the community f. Work with digital tools and assets to engage and support the innovation community, including monitoring engagement and growing of our databases. g. Enable knowledge exchange across the innovation ecosystem through effective internal communication campaigns and knowledge products. h. Act as primary point of contact for community engagement across the various teams and programmes at the Accelerator, including synergies with existing WFP innovation communities, as well as close collaboration with Communications and Partnerships teams

3. Support the overall Innovation Accelerator operations: a. Provide analysis & content preparation (data on projects, PowerPoint presentations, briefs, etc.) for corporate priority topics and management meetings; b. Participate and carry out discussions with colleagues in other divisions or external stakeholders on topics related to innovation; c. Support other core processes of the Innovation Accelerator (e.g. innovation sourcing; innovation bootcamps; sprint programme; thought leadership; scale-up enablement; innovation services; knowledge management) as required; d. Support the Head of the Innovation Accelerator and the Director of Innovation and Knowledge Management with any other activities as required.

Required qualifications and experience:

Education: Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree a plus. Experience: At least 5 years of progressively responsible international experience in community building and management, partnerships and/or communications, in the humanitarian or development sector, social impact space or private sector.

Required soft skills/WFP Competencies:

• Practical knowledge and hands-on experience with community engagement in a large organisation. • Experience managing and engaging a community. • Experience in accelerator-like environments, innovation hubs, or startup ecosystems. • Confident in virtual and in-person event delivery. • Worked cross-functionally and is able to get things done in a scrappy way. • Experience working in a large scale-organization, including in complex international environments. • Proven track record in driving projects - effectively delivering impactful elements of projects in a fast-moving environment. • Able to generate new and original solutions to complex problems and to design new product ideas. • Able to interact with a broad range of stakeholders and external audience with maturity and tact. • Collaborative spirit, able to partner with a wide range of people at all levels and across different cultures and to act with credibility and diplomacy. • Self-motivated and able to work with a high degree of autonomy. • Sets a high-level of ambition for the project and own work to achieve impact for the hungry people we serve. • Fully committed and motivated to achieve the mandate of the UN World Food Programme and the Sustainable Development Goals. Language requirements:

- Fluency in oral and written English is mandatory. Intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish), Portuguese (one of WFP’s working languages) or German is beneficial.
