Job Description

This internship can be fully remote. BACKGROUND: The mission of the International Rescue Committee (IRC) is to help people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover and gain control of their future. Founded in 1933, the IRC has a presence in over 40 countries and 24 offices in the United States; the IRC leads the way from harm to home. Domestically, our offices across the U.S. ensure new arrivals have food, shelter, and clothing, and work with refugees to help them gain self-sufficiency.

SCOPE OF INTERN WORK: Information Systems intern will play an important role in supporting the administration of the Resettlement, Asylum and Integration (RAI) department’s US databases; ensuring program effectiveness through data management. Data analysis and measurement is one of the IRC’s main strategic goals; keeping our database maintained and users supported is an essential means to that end.

COMMITMENT: 6-12 months starting in June

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Administration of RAI US information systems: IRIS and ETO

• End-user support and responding to user questions and advancing as appropriate to a support technician

• Updating system documentation as new configuration and improvements are deployed.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Current or recently matriculated undergraduate student

• Attention to detail and the ability to follow precise instructions

• Interpersonal skills (active listening, patience, positive attitude)

• Knowledge of or experience with information systems for health and human services or other type of Client Relationship Management (CRM) software is preferred, but not required

• Experience with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

• Customer service standards for user support and database management

• How to perform user maintenance and other administrative tasks in ETO

• System documentation protocols

This position reports to the Deputy Director, Information Systems
