This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

According to UN policy directives to achieve gender equity, and the UN system-wide goal established in 1994 to reach 50/50 parity at all levels and in all entities, the gender imbalance at UNAMA is staggering. During the past 10 years, there has been ongoing concern about the gender imbalance at UNAMA. This was most recently expressed during the Senior Gender Dialogue meetings by the current SRSG. It was noted that additional measures are now required if the status quo is to change. Consequently, the SRSG asked the O/CMS (Office of the Chief of Mission support) to review the situation and identify creative ways to attract and retain qualified female national and international staff. The UNAMA Field Technology Section – Service Management Unit is responsible for providing Tier-01 support for all end-user requests related to all ICT services delivered by Field Technology Section. This includes (but not limited to) ICT end-user support for computer hardware/software, virtual/in-person meeting and conferences, enterprise-level applications, telephony, data-analytics as well as developments in Microsoft cloud-platform.

• Provide timely and efficient ICT support to all mission components and sites. • Receives and logs problem calls or service requests in the automated tracking system. • Resolve problem calls or service requests on initial contact. • Diagnoses and resolves relatively simple hardware, software, or connectivity problems. Assists Network Unit to provide network connectivity in the mission area and all team sites. • Performs tasks related to scheduled service requests, including equipment replacement and transfer. • Assist with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making. • Assist with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures. • Perform equipment installation/uninstallation, software installation, LAN connection, etc. • Escalate problems to the appropriate parties in accordance with established procedures. • Provide basic training to end-users on the use of standard systems. • Distributes and deploys new computers and IT equipment in the mission. • Cooperate with ICT assets management Unit to update the issuance and return to stock items. • Keep abreast of developments in technology both in the UN and in the industry in general. • Install and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers, and scanners. • Identify and diagnose issues and problems. • Advise users on appropriate course of action. • Provide essential ICT security advice and support. • Acting as a point of contact to support service users and customers reporting issues, requesting information, access, or other services. • Making recommendations to optimize IT performance and to prevent future problems. • Collaborating with internal departments to ensure that IT needs are met. • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Experience in working with different donor organizations, U.N agencies supporting civil society development is an advantage. Knowledge and/or experience in data-analytics, database management systems and/or cloud-platforms is desirable.

The duration of your assignment is indicated above with the possibility of extension subject to availability of funding, operational necessity, and satisfactory performance. However, there is no expectation of renewal of the assignment.

Travel to duty station (if applicable) and a Settling-In-Grant will be provided in the event the duty station is not within commuting distance from the place of recruitment. The applicable Volunteer Living Allowance is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities, and normal cost of living expenses. Life, health, and permanent disability insurance are included) and final repatriation (if applicable).

Furthermore, in non-family duty stations that belong to hardship categories D or E, as classified by the ICSC, a Well-Being Differential (WBD) on a monthly basis will be provided.
