This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

This UNV assignment is part of the FTS initiative to support the new mandate. To offer a better service and cover the increased needs of the mission, an international UNV is required to assist and maintain the ICT infrastructure: Application development (which includes the analysis of functional requirements, project documentation and deliverables), Serve as System administrator of Mission available platforms such as FSS, Ebilling, iNeed, Umoja and apps available; Handle administrative and operational matters related to Information and Communications Technology. Assists in the design, development, and installation of information systems. Undertakes analysis of well-defined modules within the system, develops enhancements and new features to existing systems; may design and implement small, stand-alone systems as needed (e.g. to meet individual user requirements).Maintains assigned portions of systems, providing operational support for system applications, analysing and implementing system changes/upgrades, etc. Prepares, updates, and maintains the system’s documentation and related technical/procedural manual. Assist as Tier 2 for Helpdesk support services to +600 users. Maintain the IT Network and Infrastructure in HQ / Regional/Subregional and Local Offices.

Within delegated authority, the Information Systems Assistant will be responsible for the following duties: • Acts as a focal point for receipt and processing of user requests. • Provides basic technical support for relevant hardware and software
applications in assigned areas. • Installs application systems software and hardware according to specifications. • Provides basic support in the planning, specification, design, development, implementation and maintenance of customized application software systems. • Works with senior IT staff on the definition and specification of requirements; builds, tests, and modifies prototype application software based on detailed instructions; installs and maintains software systems. • Supports senior staff in the creation and maintenance of application software; assists in preparing technical and user documentation, as well as in the production of training materials. • Provides support on software development matters, including security, data integrity and recovery; assist with needs assessment for new systems (including modifications to existing systems); performs ongoing reviews with users and developers and responds to requirements; requests, implements, provides operational support and maintain various applications. • Maintains regular contact with users and technical staff in user offices and provides support as required. • Researches new technologies as requested; keeps abreast of developments in the field; assists in testing and evaluating new products and technologies. • Performs other related duties as required.

Application Development, Software, Developer/Engineer (Programming), Website Design and/or Developer, Database Administrator, IT Support/Helpdesk, IT Project Manager, Information Security /Cybersecurity Analyst, Network Management. • Experience working in the UN or other international development organizations is an asset; • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent technical drafting and formulation skills; • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing; • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development. • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel; • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management and office technology equipment; • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines; • Sound security awareness;
