How can you make a difference?

You will play a vital role in supporting the analysis, and dissemination of evidence information that is important for both WASH, Health & Nutrition sections and the Office to make informed (evidence based) strategic decisions.

Your work will mainly focus on:

• Identify information management (IM) tools available with different stakeholders, as well as advise on current information gaps relevant to the Health and Nutrition and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)sectors at national and sub-national levels, and propose ways to bridge those gaps
• Proactively liaise with and gather information from other sectors/organizations as well as national and sub-national authorities, to access and assess existing primary and secondary information on WASH, Health and Nutrition status and activities in the areas of program development and scale-up, ideally using real-time data acquisition and geographic information systems.
• Manage relevant WASH, Health and Nutrition data sets, focusing on humanitarian, early recovery and development data across Iraq, including linkages with relevant humanitarian cluster data sets for correlation (e.g. on internally displaced persons, refugees, returnees and host communities)
• Design, develop and manage a data server/archive of relevant WASH, Health and Nutrition sector information such as assessments, response activity content and distribution, evaluations, reports, gap analysis, etc.
• Collect, update, analyze and report timely epidemiological data from respective health, nutrition and WASH entities, authorities and stakeholders (CDC, relevant government ministries and authorities etc.), and from UNICEF Field Offices, including reports on health service coverage (e.g. immunization, maternal and newborn health and nutrition services etc.), water quality and other data. .
• Adapt existing in-country IM approaches for collecting, analyzing and reporting these sectors’ and clusters’ activities and resources and identifying information gaps.

• Collect and update information related to the processing and analysis of inputs and outcomes in UNICEF’s EQUIST software and Activity Info for Emergency Response Activities.

• Present information in understandable, effective and visually appealing tables, charts, graphs, maps, visuals and reports (such as snapshots, dashboards, gap analysis, etc.).

• Manage an inventory of relevant documents on the humanitarian situation and lead assessment processes (setting indicators, suggesting data collection methodologies, sampling grids and data management tools).
• Collecting data and drafting relevant inputs for the progress and final reports for all health, nutrition and WASH grant reports and other UNICEF reports (mid-year and end-year activity monitoring, strategic monitoring questionnaires etc.).

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have...

• A University degree, preferably at an advanced level, in a subject area relevant to information management.
• Formal training in sector information management is an advantage.
• Minimum 3-5 years of progressively relevant work experience in sector/ cluster procedures and IM products. Experience with either WASH and/or Health sectors or clusters is preferred.
• Familiarity with UNICEF’s mandate and procedures is an advantage
• Ability to proactively establish and maintain working relations, and share ideas through information management networks and promote synergies with other clusters and sectors
• Excellent written and oral presentation skills;
• Ability to work closely with the teams in a multi-cultural environment.
• Facilitation and capacity-building skills
• Ability to perform several tasks in a timely manner with a focus on quality
• Communicate key messages to different audiences
• Understanding of the logical framework approach and different types of indicators (baseline and output especially) is an advantage
• Basic understanding of WASH/Health Cluster/ sector activities is a great advantage
• Technical competencies:
  • Perfect knowledge of the data cycle (data collection, data analysis, data interpretation and data visualization) especially for assessments and for output monitoring purposes
  • High proficiency (advanced user) in MS Excel, especially pivot tables (perfect knowledge), table formatting, key functions and formulas such as lists, drop-down menu, V-look Up, Offset validation, graphs (perfect knowledge), etc.
  • High proficiency in MS Word, especially formatting documents, formatting shapes and text boxes, formatting graphs, etc. in order to create high quality visuals for Clusters members, donors and other humanitarian actors
  • Proven skills in using GIS and map-making packages, and in web design and software development.
• Fluency in English and Arabic are required.
