This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of UNAIDS Country Director (UCD), the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Support coordination meetings with the relevant Joint Programme technical persons on Strategic Information within UN and Government to monitor and record progress in implementation of the work plan.
  • Represent the office in the various pillars of the fight against Covid 19
  • Support REMAP + in needs assessment studies in the context of Covid19 19
  • Coordinate the reporting of United Nations agencies on UBRAF funds
  • Support the organisation of field monitoring visits and production of reports from such visits.
  • Assist in coordinating meetings for the priority sectors (Reference and Core Groups) and ensure records of meetings are documented, clear actions identified and followed up for implementation.
  • Support data collection, synthesis and reporting of office, regional and global indicators as well as reviewing of draft reports produced by consultants and other partners.
  • Assist in supporting the UNAIDS Country Office (UCO) to meet its reporting requirements, i.e. regular reports on the UCO work plans and to specific funding partners, supporting UCD to ensure that all reports are prepared according to standard formats and completed in a timely manner.
  • Provide general support to Research, Monitoring and Evaluation activities as prescribed by the office.
  • Support documentation of monitoring and evaluation best practices, lessons learned and recommendations to be integrated into knowledge management initiatives.
  • Support the documentation of the country office’s programme monitoring activities, including field monitoring, training workshops, supplies and end-user satisfaction monitoring with special focus on the joint programme.
  • Represent the organization in meetings and committees related to its mandate
  • Participate in monitoring and evaluation community of practice, remaining abreast of latest development and professional standards, tools and methodologies.
  • Undertake any other functions as necessary and required to support the efficient and timely achievement of UCO programme goals.

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level:

Bachelor degree or equivalent

Education - Additional Comments:

  • Advanced higher degree (Bachlor’s degree or equivalent) in monitoring evaluation, data management, Public health, social science or a related area
    • At least 2 to 7 years of professional work experience in monitoring evaluation, data management or HIV/AIDS.
    • Fluency in French. working knowledge in English, knowledge in Arabic is an advantage.

Experience remark:

  • A University degree in development studies, gender studies or related social science field;
  • Training in monitoring and evaluation from a recognised institution;
  • A minimum of one year working in the field of monitoring and evaluation;
  • Experience in working with different stakeholders or teams in coordinating reporting writing;
  • Demonstrates commitment to UN Women’s mission, vision and values;
  • Demonstrated interest and/or experience in gender equality and women’s empowerment;
  • Good interpersonal, networking and communication skills;
  • Willingness to contribute and work as part of a team;
  • Flexible and open to learning and new experiences;
  • Respect for diversity and adaptability to other cultures, environments and living conditions;
  • Fluency in spoken and written French;
  • Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded;
  • Computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media, and others);
  • Willingness to travel nationally.
