This is a UNV National Youth contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Youth contracts.

The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) was established in 1946, in the aftermath of World War II. Our mandate was clear: to help children and young people whose lives and futures were at risk – no matter what role their country had played in the war. What mattered to UNICEF was reaching every child in need, protecting children’s rights to survive, thrive, and reach their full potential.
Collection and use of quality nutrition information is one of the key objectives of UNICEF and its partners. This facilitates evidence-based decision making; thus, strengthens the capacity of UNICEF and its partners to plan, implement, monitor and coordinate nutrition programs. In addition, availability of timely information reinforces the capacity of the nutrition sector to utilize the evidence to advocate, support and formulate new policies and strategies to fill gaps. So the IM UNV is responsible to work with IM specialist to fulfill the assigned tasks.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of [IM specialist] or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV [Information Management] will:

• Support the improvement of online nutrition database reports and WIFS database including timeliness and completeness • Collect, compile and provide monthly reporting from nutrition cluster participants, including 5Ws (‘Who does What, Where, When and for Whom?’ databases). • Support verification and updating of nutrition emergency sites including nutrition mobile teams • Work with the Nutrition Information Management Specialist to develop appropriate supportive strategies for data collection and dissemination • Update and maintain nutrition cluster participant’s list • Upload and dissemination all nutrition cluster products and documents in an appropriate way, including nutrition page updating • Support MoE focal person on data collection of WIFS online database • Respond to the Cluster participants’ needs for information under supervision of IMS • Update Assessment database on regular basis • Document the meetings of technical working groups, Sub National clusters and Provincial Nutrition Committees. • Support the cluster coordination team in preparing (arranging venue, confirming attendance of partners etc.) for regular coordination meetings • One on one follow up with partners on cluster identified priorities that require partner input. • Any other activities and tasks assigned by the supervisors

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:

• Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day); • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country; • Provide annual and end of assignment self-reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities.
• Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.; • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers; • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

Excel • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills; • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing; • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development; • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel; • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment; • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines; • Sound security awareness; • Have affinity with or interest in [humanitarian response and monitoring], volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
