You have:
- Experience at the national and/or international level in network administration, support management of hardware and software platforms, telecommunications facilities, knowledge of Windows-based packages/applications
- Relevant certifications in hardware and software management and application required, including Microsoft Certified Profession (MCP)
- Good knowledge of PC/LAN operating systems, Microsoft Windows, corporate ICT security and viral protection systems, ERP
- Ability to review a variety of data, identify and adjust discrepancies, identify and resolve operational problems
- Some experience in client support, such as a Help Desk or User Support Unit
- Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills
- Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment, ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel
- Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines
Contract

The ICT Assistant is located in the Maputo Office and reports directly to the ICT Associate, under the overall guidance of the International Operation Manager. The ICT Assistant assists in the implementation of ICT policies and standards, provides ICT and administrative support services and daily technical support to end users. The Information and Communication Technology Assistant will assist the ICT Associate in the management of the organization’s resources, assisting in implementing ICT standards and applications, managing data, information and workflow. S/he will provide ICT and administrative support services and daily technical support to CO staff.
• Assist in the effectiveness functioning of CO hardware and software packages; performing technical functions, including assisting with the installation and repair of commercial and in-house hardware and software applications; assisting with routine repairs, application management, maintaining supplies inventory; monitoring of server traffic and performance; provision of support in backing up and restoring files, and virus prevention; • Assist the ICT security through restriction of administrative rights to prevent the loading of unauthorized software; ensuring that desktop, laptop and server passwords and related policies are in line with established corporate standards; • Supporting networks administration, including the establishment of offsite backup, backup logs and restoration procedures; trouble-shooting network problems and responding to user needs regarding network access; • Assisting in providing administrative support by managing software, hardware and parts, including the maintenance of an up to date inventory; maintaining CO databases and providing orientation and coaching to staff; maintaining a library of ICT related reference materials; preparation of statistical reports as required. • Assisting in securing the operation of satellite phones in use at the Country Office, providing administrative support for having them accounted for, for this keeping updated the database of equipment, training staff in their use. Timely update on services/SIMS to expire, so as to prevent interruption of operation of phones put into service. Monthly verification of condition of equipment and reporting to International Operations Manager on inventory, condition of equipment and credit available. • Assist with an up-to-date inventory of ICT-related software and hardware. • Assist on keeping statistics of services provided by the ICT area. • Assist the asset focal person to ensure that Inventory DB records for ICT equipment are accurate.

As active UNFPA team member, efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly and high-quality support rendered to UNFPA and its beneficiaries in the accomplishment of her/his functions, including: ● Full compliance of administrative activities with UN/UNFPA rules, regulations, policies and strategies; implementation of the effective internal control, proper design and functioning of a client oriented management system; ● Analysis of requirements and synthesis of proposal for cost saving and reduction strategies; ● All hospitality/catering/travel/administrative activities are properly organized and take place with complaints as less as possible and measures are taken to ensure they are solved within an acceptable time; ● Support logistics and administrative associate in managing UNFPA country office, ensuring smooth functioning of operations.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to: ● Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark IVD); ● Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country; ● Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities; ● Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.; ● Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers; ● Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. This position is based in Maputo.
