UNICEF Janakpur field offices has engaged three different companies for minor construction and interior designing of the new and existing office space. Construction of Disabled friendly toilet has just completed and tile flooring within the office compound is under progress. BoQ of the interior designing has been completed though the solicitation and onboarding are underway.

Assessment of construction and interior designing work is essential to ensure the compliance with security and Eco-efficiency & Inclusive access including resource efficiency and sustainability. Therefore, for the assurance of the compliance, quality of works and evaluation of technical & financial reports, the Janakpur office is seeking an experienced consultant engineer.

How can you make a difference?

The objective of hiring the consultant is to adhere with the compliance, sustainability of the work and ensure the financial reports are free from misstatement.

Scope of Work: Under the supervision of Operations Officer, the consultant will fulfil the following responsibilities. • Monitoring of ongoing interior works of the office. • Assure the fulfillment of security and eco-efficiency compliance. • Report the deviation or potential risk that could affect the budget, timeline or quality of work and provide technical advice to facilitate the decision process. • Work collaboratively with supervisor and FO management to address the issues and challenges of construction and interior works. • Monitor the quality of the works. • Evaluate the technical and financial report submitted by the companies. Ensure the measurements and the reports are free from error and misstatement. TASK • Evaluation of technical and financial report. • Monitor the ongoing interior works. • Evaluation of technical and financial report. First Deliverable • Monitor quality of disabled friendly toilet and tile laying work and advice to FO management for the adjustment works if necessary. • Evaluate the technical and financial reports of the companies referring to BoQ, design and physical structures and submit the variation and final report to the supervisor. Second Deliverable • Monitor the quality of works. • Report the potential risk that could affect the budget, timeline or quality of work and provide technical advice to facilitate the decision process. Final Deliverable • Evaluate the technical and financial reports of the companies referring to BoQ, design and physical structures and submit the variation and final report to the supervisor.

Duration: The duration of the consultancy is for the period of 10 working days over the period of one month.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… Minimum Qualification required: Education: Civil or Architecture Engineering Experience: • More than 5 years of experience in related fields. • Prior experience with the UN system or international development/humanitarian agencies is an advantage. • Priority will be given to female, under representative community and local residence of Madhesh Province.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
