Overview

Translate and proofread documents from English to Pashto for UNODC.

You have:

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in language is required.
  • A first level university degree in similar fields with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in the field of English to Pashto translation is required.
  • Fluency in English and Pashto are required.
  • Knowledge of any other UN official language is an advantage.

Result of Service The Individual Contractor will be translating scripts and/or other documents from the original English version into Pashto that pertain to and are in the support of the UNODC Global eLearning Programme. Translated documents will be delivered by email using the same format as the original documents.

Duties and Responsibilities The purpose of this assignment is to provide high quality translation services and proof reading of scripts from English into Pashto.

Qualifications/special skills - An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in language, is required. A first level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. - A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in the field of English to Pashto translation, is required. - Work experience with Trados, is desirable.

Languages - English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English and Pashto are required. Knowledge of any other UN official language, is an advantage.
