How can you make a difference?

The Programme and Planning Section, UNICEF East Asia Pacific Regional Office (EAPRO) is seeking an individual consultant to provide standardized support to country offices for prioritized KM approaches, improve the EAPRO digital workspace and the use of digital tools, and support the development and maintenance of the Asia Pacific KM platform as well as UNICEF external KM hub.

Work Assignments:

1. Ensure that the Regional Office and Country Offices have access to, and guidance in, rolling out effective KM approaches that can be customized according to their needs

  • Update country offices and regional office needs for KM support (CO component to be done based on CO requests);
  • Provide support to the roll out and implementation of the global and regional KM strategy;
  • Develop guidance for country offices on support for SharePoint and other knowledge sharing platforms;
  • Maintain one stop shop of internal guidance and approaches on EAPRO SharePoint.

2. Support capacity building and promote utilization of knowledge management, including digital tools to implement effective KM strategy

  • Support on-demand capacity building of RO and COs on KM tools and data visualization work with RO and COs to promote the utilization of digital workspace, including by organizing KM sharing webinars, virtual orientations, hands on support.

3. Enhance digital workplace tools to support effective KM

  • Building on the existing work done in EAPRO and based on the KM needs of the office, the consultant will finalize the design of the digital site ensuring to take advantage of the full capabilities of the system to increase information managements in the office.

4. Develop professional data visualization through Power BI, as well as static graphic dashboards and infogram, to be used in Drupal, SharePoint or other digital platforms, to increase the dissemination of evidence generation and analysis of children rights in the region, amongst others

  • Develop and maintain digital data dashboards in support of planning, monitoring and programming work, to disseminate evidence and support analysis.

5. Develop, support use and maintain of external knowledge sharing platform/s for partners and relevant practitioners to easily access UNICEF knowledge products and engagement.

  • Support content management and support any adjustment to the content and design of the UN-wide Regional Asia Pacific Knowledge Management Hub;
  • Support content management and external UNICEF knowledge exchange platform;
  • Support the migration of content and updating of knowledge resources available through the external website of UNICEF EAPRO.

Duration of Contract: 11.5 months from 16 January 2023 to 31 December 2023

Official Travel: The post is based in Bangkok with reporting to UNICEF EAPRO, possible travel in the region is envisioned.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education and Work:

• Advanced university degree in social sciences, education or other related field;

• At least 2 years of work experience in web design with very good knowledge and understanding of the key elements, including visual communication, digital arts and design, multimedia production, Web application programming and publishing, interactivity and usability testing.

• Demonstrated working experience with commercial and emerging reporting tools and technologies (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, etc.) is required.

Development Skills:

• Strong data visualization skills and working knowledge of data analysis are required.

• Proven experience on coding designs, creating web content and designing ready for publishing.

• Excellent understanding of HTML, CSS or other techniques and familiarity with database technologies, including PHP and MySQL.

• Capacity to create web pages using Javascript and Flash.

• Knowledge and expertise on using Microsoft 356 suit tools - SharePoint, Power BI, Team Collaboration Software Tools

Optimization skills

The consultant must have technical expertise to:

• Ensure the Regional KM hub/site ranks well on search engines and attracts higher numbers of visitors, the consultant must be familiar with search engine optimization techniques.

• Work with content providers to ensure they supply high-quality, original content that reflects popular search terms.

• Ensure that their designs are easy for search engines to navigate and index.

• Use of SharePoint applications and designs that will enhance effective and efficient user experience.

Other Experience

The appropriate consultant should have:

• Experience in coordinating and liaising with partner organizations and UN agencies;

• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in writing in English;

• A high level of organizational and coordination skills;

• An excellent command of the English language – both written and oral;

• Ability to produce quality work within stipulated deadlines;

• Highly developed communication skills;

• Motivated and has the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
