Result of Service Successfully maintained and upgraded the Disarmament Education Dashboard. Successfully provided IT support for disarmament education work.

Expected duration 6 months

Duties and Responsibilities The individual contractor will be responsible for maintenance of the Vienna Office e-learning Disarmament Education Dashboard, including interface with other UNODA websites and databases. The individual contractor will implement functionality and system upgrades based on a detailed task list provided by the supervisor. These will comprise updates to the functionalities and interface for users, course managers and administrators. Specific tasks include:

1) Maintenance of e-learning Dashboard content and interface with other UNODA websites and databases; 2) Resolution of technical issues and requests for support from different user groups; 3) Implementation of upgrades and changes to functions and interface of the Dashboard for different user groups, including (a) Dashboard users, (b) Course managers, (c) Administrators; 4) Support to guidance development and training on Dashboard functionalities for UNODA offices/branches and other personnel; 5) IT support for implementation of new courses and functions at the request of UNODA branches and offices; 6) Use of a variety of analytical tools and techniques to explore and interpret large complex datasets; 7) Support of periodic data exports of relevant datasets and statistical analysis, data modeling, and data visualization; 8) Ensure compliance with UN ICT, accessibility and data privacy standards; 9) Support Vienna Office outreach and communications activities.

Qualifications/special skills - A high school diploma is required. A university bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Information Technology and Graphic Design is desirable; - Advanced knowledge of computer programming languages, including HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP or similar is required; - Experience in database development and knowledge of data manipulation using SQL is required and should be familiar with programming languages commonly used in data analysis, such as SQL, Python, or R; - Required to possess expertise in data analysis, statistical analysis, data modeling, and data visualization and experience with a variety of analytical tools and techniques for exploring and interpreting large data sets; - Knowledge of CMS/LMS systemsxs, and experience with e-learning standards (SCORM, xAPI, etc) is desirable; - Knowledge of implementing multi-lingual websites and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for exchanging data is desirable; - Knowledge of natural language processing and machine learning techniques commonly used in machine translation and content localization is desirable; - Must be familiar with industry best practices for content localization and common tools and platforms for AI-driven translation such as Smartling or Google/Amazon Translate; - Knowledge of user interface and user experience (UX) design is required; - Knowledge of applications development deployment methodology and source code control: git, svn is required; - Knowledge of Articulate Storyline or Adobe Captivate is desirable; - Knowledge of XHTML and cascading style languages for webpages (CSS, SASS); - Familiarity with graphic design software: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign or similar; - Minimum 2 years working experience in developing software related to Web Content Management Systems required. Proof of Web Content Management System software package development may be accepted in lieu of minimum required working experience; - Working experience or previous consultancy engagement with the United Nations system is desirable.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required; knowledge of another United Nations language is an advantage.
