Translate scripts from English into Somali for UNODC eLearning
You have:
- An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in language is required.
- A minimum of 1 year of relevant professional experience in the field of English to Somali translation is required.
- Fluency in English and Somali is required.
- Knowledge of any other UN official language is an advantage.
- Previous experience working with UN agencies is desirable.
- Work experience with Trados is desirable.
Result of Service The individual contractor will be translating scripts and other information from the original English version into Somali that pertain to and are in the support of the UNODC Global eLearning Programme. Translated documents will be delivered by email, using the same format as the original document.
Work Location Home based.
Expected duration 13 working days (22 July to 10 August 2022)
Duties and Responsibilities The purpose of this assignment is to provide high-quality translation services and proof reading of scripts from English into Somali.
Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: - An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in language, is required. A first level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience: - A minimum of 1 year of relevant professional experience in the field of English to Somali translation, is required. - Previous experience working with UN agencies, is desirable. - Work experience with Trados, is desirable.
Language: - English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English and Somali are required. Knowledge of any other UN official language, is an advantage.
