Overview

You have:

• Advanced university degree (Master's degree or higher) in instructional designing, e-learning, adult education, or another relevant technical field.
• Minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional work experience in online instructional designing, e-learning, or training.
• Adept in the use of e-learning authoring tools such as RISE, Articulate Storyline or Elucidat or H5P.
• Adept in administering the Moodle or other Learning Management System.
• Adept in developing and editing short videos that can be incorporated in e-courses.
• Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.

UNICEF’s Division of Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) works with the private sector through UNICEF National Committees, country offices and HQ divisions to expand strategic engagement with the private sector and advocate for child rights. As UNICEF shifts into a more agile organization able to deliver on ambitious targets outlined in its Impact Plan, there is a strong need to invest in building the capacity of staff (global, regional, country office and National Committees).

To help address this need, PFP holds a number of thematic, regional and global knowledge sharing events. Content from these events are repackaged into different knowledge products as part of PFP’s end-to-end knowledge management framework. One form of repackaging is the conversion of content into e-learning courses which allow colleagues to upskill themselves in a self-paced manner. To date, PFP, under the leadership of the PRIME Section, has launched almost two dozen e-courses housed in a dedicated channel on ‘Private Sector Fundraising and Partnerships’ deployed in its Learning Management System called Agora.

PFP has a need to further enhance their capacity building work by developing new e-learning courses, updating existing ones, and developing other types of engaging knowledge products.

How can you make a difference?

This Individual Contractor will support the PRIME team in capturing key knowledge sharing sessions including the Virtual Skill Share, as well as key content from strategic initiatives, and converting these into interactive knowledge products such as e-learning modules/packages and interactive videos. The Individual Contractor will also lead the management of the PFP e-learning channel on ‘Private Sector Fundraising and Partnerships’.

MAIN TASKS

The Individual Contractor will report to the PFP Knowledge Management Manager and will work closely with technical specialists who will act as subject matter experts providing guidance on key content to be repackaged. Specifically, he/she will have the following responsibilities:

a) Develop and launch e-learning courses as agreed with the Knowledge Management Manager. This includes:

1. Helping formulate course overviews and learning objectives of e-courses together with the technical specialists.

2. Gathering all existing content types, analyse how these can form an e-learning module, identify gaps, and address these through discussions with the technical specialists.

3. Proposing the e-learning course structure and have these validated and approved by the technical specialists.

4. Performing the necessary storyboarding, indicating interactive elements where needed and appropriate, gathering feedback from session leads/subject matter experts and revising storyboards based on feedback.

5. Converting the storyboards into e-learning format primarily using the RISE authoring tool that will be provided by UNICEF.

6. Validating the e-learning package with the technical specialists, gather feedback and perform revisions as needed.

7. Coordinating the beta-testing of the course.
8. Deploying the course in the Agora channel on ‘Private Sector Fundraising and Partnerships’.

b) Update existing courses when new content becomes available

1. Coordinate with course owners if there are updates to their courses and implement such updates

2. Coordinate and deploy new language versions of existing courses upon the request of course owners

3. Improve interactivity of existing courses when better interactive features become available.

c) Manage the Moodle-based e-learning channel on ‘Private Sector Fundraising and Partnerships’

1. Improve the layout and user interface of the channel, including deploying new Agora features such as the Learning Journey pathways.

2. Monitor channel and course analytics and identify ways to improve access and completion.

3. Identify ways to promote the channel among private sector colleagues.

d) Develop other interactive knowledge products on a per need basis

1. Coordinate with technical specialists on the production of videos to demonstrate or promote different areas of PFP work.

2. Perform edits to raw video capturing cases in coordination with case owners.

3. Develop interactive videos based on webinar recordings and other existing videos for one-time use or for inclusion in other formats including e-learning modules.

DELIVERABLES

1. At least 6 new strategic e-learning courses developed and deployed in Agora

2. At least 6 videos or interactive and engaging learning/knowledge products delivered

3. Existing courses updated and new language versions implemented upon the request of course owners

4. Agora channel maintained and potential improvements identified and implemented where possible

5. Statistics on channel and course performance extracted every quarter

ESTIMATED DURATION OF THE CONTRACT AND PROPOSAL

11.5 months, full-time, tentatively starting in July 2022

WORKPLACE

Home-based (remotely), following Geneva office official work hours (ideally working within CET business hours). There is a possibility of travel during the assignment on a per need basis and this will be paid by UNICEF, travel regulations and restrictions apply.

Education:

• Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or higher) in instructional designing, e-learning, adult education, or another relevant technical field. A first-level university degree, in combination with qualifying experience, may be accept-ed in lieu of an advanced university degree.

Experience:

• Minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional work experience in online instructional designing, e-learning, or training, some of which at the international level is required.
• Adept in the use of e-learning authoring tools such as RISE, Articulate Storyline or Elucidat or H5P is a requirement.
• Adept in administering the Moodle or other Learning Management System is a requirement.

• Adept in developing and editing short videos that can be incorporated in e-courses is a requirement.

• Good appreciation of learner needs and how this can influence e-learning course designs.

• Strong analytical and conceptual thinking with the ability to process information and feedback and translate these into storyboards.
• Creative, resourceful and self-motivated with strong drive for results.
• Familiarity with SharePoint 2013 online; and
• Ability to work independently and to meet tight deadlines.

Language:

• Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
