**OVERVIEW** ------------ Parent Sector : Communication and Information Sector (CI) Duty Station: Doha Classification of duty station: \[\[filter12\]\] Standard Duration of Assignement : \[\[filter13\]\] Job Family: Communication and Information Type of contract : Non Staff Duration of contract : From 7 to 11 months Recruitment open to : External candidates Application Deadline (Midnight Paris Time) : 31/03/2022 UNESCO Core Values: Commitment to the Organization, Integrity, Respect for Diversity, Professionalism **OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST** ----------------------------------------- Under the overall authority of the Director of the Office and the direct supervision of the Communication and Information Officer at the UNESCO GCC and Yemen Office, the consultant will provide tasks in line with the Output 8 of UNESCO’s 41C/5 Major Programme V Communication and Information: “Reinforcing the identification, preservation, and accessibility of documentary heritage globally. **CONTEXT AND BACKGROUND** --------------------------- The UNESCO Memory of the World (MoW) Programme is implementing the 24-month AlUla Documentary Heritage Project, which aims to enhance the identification, preservation and accessibility of ancient inscriptions in Alula and Saudia Arabia more broadly. The project will include a variety of activities, including capacity-building workshops, a flagship conference and exhibition, stakeholder consultations and the creation of an online platform to promote documentary heritage in the Arab World. **OBJECTIVES** -------------- The purpose of this consultancy is to provide regional communications support for this project in the UNESCO GCC and Yemen Office based in Doha. The communications strategy has already been drafted and approved and will be led by a communication officer dedicated to the project based in Paris. The communication consultant based in Doha will work in close collaboration with both the project communication officer based in Paris and the Documentary Heritage Unit in the headquarters (HQ) as well as the Communication and Information (CI) sector in Doha. In particular, the consultant will be asked to implement the communications strategy, including: 1\. Translating from English to Arabic the dedicated project webpage and liaising with the communications consultant in HQ and the Communication & Information web editor to ensure that the content is regularly updated. 2\. Drafting, translating from English to Arabic and producing press releases, news items, email campaigns and social media content. 3\. Designing a brochure and other communication materials (e.g. visuals and gifs for social media and webpage) in Arabic. 4\. Liaising with colleagues at HQ (Documentary Heritage Unit and communications sector) to ensure effective implementation of the communications strategy. 5\. Measuring the visibility of the project and engagement of stakeholders (i.e. page/video views, unique visitors, and other web metrics) and providing data to the HQ Communications officer who will produce a monthly report. 6\. With the support of the UNESCO offices in the region, build a database of media outlets in the Arab region and ensure the dissemination of the communication production to the Arabic-speaking media in the region. 7\. Contributing to the identification of regional and national stakeholders and partners for the project, and establishing communication partnerships with them. 8\. Providing overall logistical (venue, equipment, etc.) and communications support for the flagship conference (Kingdoms Institute Platform for the Promotion of Documentary Heritage in the Arab World) and associated exhibition. 9\. Support when needed on the logistic of event management. UNESCO will provide the consultant with logos and guidance concerning the expected outlook of the graphic designs based on project focus. **COMPETENCIES (Core / Managerial)** ------------------------------------ Accountability (C) Communication (C) Innovation (C) Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement (C) Planning and organizing (C) Results focus (C) Teamwork (C) Professionalism (C) **-** ----- For detailed information, please consult the [UNESCO Competency Framework](https://en.unesco.org/sites/default/files/competency_framework_e.pdf). **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** --------------------------- **Education:** • Master degree in social sciences or any other relevant fields. **Work experience:** • A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in the field of public relations, communication and/or any other relevant fields, of which at least 1 year acquired in the region and/or international level would be an advantage. • The selected applicant will need to have the ability to work under pressure and be attentive to details. **Skills/Competencies:** • Excellent writing skills in both Arabic and English. • Excellent graphic design skills (Canva, in-design, etc.). • Excellent interpersonal skills. **Languages:** • Excellent knowledge/Fluency (written and spoken) in English and Arabic. **DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS** ---------------------------- • Work experience with UN and/or international development agency will be an asset. • Experience in institutional communication will be an asset. • Good knowledge of UNESCO’s Memory of the World Programme **REMUNERATION** ---------------- The monthly fees will be QAR. 21,000/- (Twenty One Thousand Qatari Riyals Only) is payable upon completion of the expected work deliveries and submission of monthly reports. **SELECTION AND RECRUITMENT PROCESS** ------------------------------------- Please note that all candidates must complete an on-line application and provide complete and accurate information.
