In 2017 – 2018, UNICEF Office completed the remodeling projects of converting the previous canteen into a multi-function conference room and modernizing the back building to accommodate the growth of Programme staff. The open spaced back building also brings significant improvement to staffs’ working environment.

Because of the above experience, UNICEF decided to prioritize the remodeling of the rest of the areas in the compound (front building, annex and other temporary structures) as one of its annual priorities in 2021, aiming to improve the overall working environment and staff satisfaction.

How can you make a difference?

This 11.5 month assignment is to support the Supply team, especially the Supply & Procurement Specialist on effective communication, project management and quality control to the project so by the end of the year 90% of the targeted activities can be satisfactorily accomplished.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Stages

Responsibilities

1.Interior Design Stage

  • Organize stakeholder meetings with internal and external participants
  • Document and follow up on actions and decisions from the meetings
  • Keep Office Space Task Force updated on project’s progress
  • Expedite timely submission of design drawings
  • Facilitate review of design drawings

2.Tender and Contract Award Stage

  • Collect detailed drawings and BoQs to prepare tender documents
  • Advise and recommend quality products/materials for the Project
  • Support preparation of bid evaluation and CRC submission

3.Project Management /Construction Stage

  • Make daily visits to construction site
  • Perform quality control duties in accordance with contract documents
  • Identify and report non-conformances during site visits
  • Expedite timely rectification to above observations
  • Take progress photographs and produce construction progress reports
  • Coordinate required inspections with architect firm and landlord

4.Project Close-out Stage

  • Collect all record drawings, operation and maintenance manuals required in contracts
  • Prepare completion report to close-out

Minimum Academic Qualifications required and disciplines

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management, business administration or other relevant area.
  • Specialized experience in remodeling works is an advantage.

Knowledge/Experience/Expertise/Skills required

  • At least five years of progressively work experience in engineering or construction field, including some experience in project coordination and site superintendence.
  • Detail-oriented character is critical.
  • Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time management.
  • Strong communication skills and teamwork mindset.
  • Familiarity with risk management and quality assurance control.
  • Good command of both Chinese and English as working language.
  • A native who familiars with processes and procedures of Design-Build construction projects is preferred
