You have:
- High School diploma is required.
- First Level Degree is desirable.
- A minimum of 3 years experience in human rights and gender, coordination, advocacy, strategic partnerships building required.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Knowledge of another UN official language is desired.
Result of Service To support with human rights issues related to the country office and the human rights related events identified by the HOO.

Duties and Responsibilities The UN RCO in Botswana provides inter-agency coordination and support to joint program development and implementation, and supports joint UN advocacy efforts. The UN RCO is also overseeing the implementation of the 2022-26 UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNDSCF), which focuses on inequality and leaving no-one behind. The human rights and gender normative agenda are key priorities for the UNSDCF period, and the UNSDCF also includes a specific results area on gender equality. Key human rights issues targeted for advocacy during the 2022-26 period include: Gender equality and women’s rights, Rights of persons with disabilities, abolishment of Corporal Punishment for children in schools and for adults in all settings, abolishment of capital punishment
Under the supervision of the Head of Resident Coordinator’s Office, the individual contractor will: - As Secretariat to the UN inter-agency mechanism on human rights- ensure meetings are held regularly, documented, prepared well and that agreed actions are followed-up on - Developed updated mappings exist of i) human rights actors, ii) follow-up on Government of Botswana human rights commitments - Ensure RC has access to timely statements, talking points, briefing notes to facilitate advocacy, outreach and leadership on these issues - Have supported the organization of at least two internal UN capacity building efforts on human rights i.e., town-hall meetings/similar - Support the implementation of the events related to the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights
Qualifications/special skills High School diploma is required. First Level Degree is desirable. A minimum of 3 years experience in human rights and gender, coordination, advocacy, strategic partnerships building required.
Languages English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is desired.
