Organizational Setting

The main aim of the FAO Syria Country Office is to assist government to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to develop the agricultural fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.

Reporting Lines

The incumbent works under the overall supervision of the Assistant FAOR Administrative and Under the overall guidance of the FAO Representative, liaising with the Regional HR Officer for advice whenever needed.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Provide support in the recruitment process; including screening applications of candidates, arranging interviews, preparing reports for FAO Syria Office. o Review, process and follow-up on actions related to the administration of the unit’s human resource activities, e.g., recruitment of staff and consultants, performance appraisal, job classification reviews, training etc., ensuring consistency in the application of FAO rules and procedures. o Respond to enquiries and provide information to staff regarding administrative procedures, processes and practices, conditions of service, duties and responsibilities, and entitlements under the Staff Rules and Regulations by liaising with RNE-HR/CSLC, as appropriate. o Monitor the contractual status of staff and NSHR on various appointments/assignments. o Maintain the timely preparation of contract renewals, extension letters, personnel action forms and ensure accurate issuance of contracts. o Raise ePPRs and ePM in the online GRMS system, as required; o Maintain regular liaison with HR Personnel in FAO Shared Service Centre and with RNE-HR to support timely completion of International selection process, and seek advice on resolving other HR issues; o Liaise with other UN agencies in the country regarding HR matters, and participate in related HR meetings; • Assist in the preparation of the payment request forms when required. • Maintain personnel information for National NSHR, ensuring that relevant documents are kept in their respective files by uploading complete confidential documentation and updated information related by recording it in E-filing. • Upload all documents related to HR processes in respect of FAOSY personnel in the Administration shared drive for proper recording and better securing of our info. • Maintain confidentiality and professional attitude when dealing with all personnel and adhere to the standard code of conduct. • Provide International and Local travel support functions to International, National staff, and Non staff travelers based on the Organization’s rules and regulations; • Perform other related administrative duties as required by the supervisor.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• University degree in Business Administration or any related field. • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a similar position; experience in Humanitarian agencies will be an added Value. • Working knowledge of English and Arabic languages. • Syrian Nationality

• Working experience in the UN System or other Humanitarian agencies will be considered an asset
