How can you make a difference?

The role of HR Associate (Talent Sourcer) is to implement GSSC outreach strategy that aims to boost UNICEF GSSC Talent Pools for processing roles and specialized functions as well as identify avenues and networks to attract talent and source hard to fill positions.

This will include sourcing and interacting with potential candidates online, using technical tools and sourcing techniques to map and identify suitable candidates, developing strong talent pipelines and conducting initial candidate screenings.

The incumbent should be able to source the perfect candidate for positions that are often hard to fill.

Key functions, accountabilities, and related tasks:

  • Together with GSSC Recruitment Team, review workforce plans, as well as identify hard to fill positions including technical roles and develop sourcing strategies depending on the role. This includes research and recommendations in identifying the most effective sourcing channels, talent sourcing networks, job boards and appropriate approaches to attract a diverse pool of candidates based on the job profile.
  • Participate in some of the strategic discussions between the recruitment teams and hiring office to understand skills and competences needed that will inform the sourcing strategies for open and future positions
  • Partner with recruiters and hiring teams to support various initiatives (e.g., referral programs, talent mapping, salary benchmarking, etc).
  • Build efficient and effective sourcing strategies by using Boolean string, X-rays and other unconventional sourcing techniques
  • Engage, discover, and cultivate relationships with external, often passive talent, using a variety of techniques to identify and contact candidates.
  • Track candidate activity to anticipate recruitment opportunities.
  • Responsible for sourcing for critical roles across the organization (including IT, Finance, HR roles) and manage candidate pipelines from both passive and active sources.
  • Build market intelligence by running benchmarking, market mapping and knowledge sharing initiatives.
  • Contacting industry partners for candidate referrals.
  • Managing the organization company’s candidate database.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within Talent Sourcing functional area, keeping abreast of the latest technical sourcing trends and applying these to support GSSC staffing needs.
  • Review and analyze operational assignments or challenges that require research, evaluation, and selection of alternative solutions.
  • Work closely with our Employer Branding and Outreach colleagues to attract and maintain candidate pipelines (i.e.: initiating campaigns and attending job fairs) and represent the organization at national, regional, or local networking and recruiting events.
  • Collaborate and consult with Talent Management colleagues, internal partners, and stakeholders, including internal and external stakeholders.

  • Provide overall support to the HR Team.
  • Complete special projects and other duties as required.

Education:

  • Completion of secondary education (i.e. high school diploma) is required, preferably supplemented by university courses in human resources management, communications, digital media, information technology or other related field is required.

Experience:

  • A minimum of six years of professional experience in talent sourcing and research, including experience in talent acquisition in an international organization and/or large corporation is required. A completed Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution will be counted toward 4 years of the minimum work experience requirements.

  • A minimum of six years of professional experience in talent sourcing and research, including experience in talent acquisition in an international organization and/or large corporation is required.

  • Hands-on experience with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATSs) and other Human Resources Management software is required.
  • Familiarity with social networks, professional sites and resume databases is required.
  • Detailed knowledge of modern sourcing techniques, excellent communication skills, and solid understanding of recruitment principles are required.
  • Experience using social media networks (e.g. LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter) to source potential candidates is required.
  • Experience interacting with professionals in niche platforms, like Github and Behance is required.
  • Experience in initial screening of candidates is required.
  • Good time-management skills with the ability to handle various open positions simultaneously.
  • Very good communication, sales, customer orientation and interpersonal skills required.
  • Fluency in English (verbal and spoken) required
  • Knowledge of an additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish), or local language of the duty station, is considered an asset
