UNICEF's supply and logistics headquarters - Supply Division - is located in Copenhagen, which is also home to the largest humanitarian warehouse in the world. About a half of the 1000 colleagues are housed in Supply Division, Copenhagen with areas of expertise including logistics, procurement, warehouse management, product innovation, market insights, finance, pharma, nutrition, vaccines, cold chain and health technologies and engineering. Over 1000 colleagues work in the Supply Function across 97 countries and 173 offices and form the Supply Community.

How Can You Make a Difference?

Under the general supervision of the Human Resources Associate, the HR Assistant will be responsible for a full range of activities related to GS staff recruitment in accordance with the UN Staff Rules and Regulations and UNICEF's Policy and Procedure Manual.

The incumbent will join the Recruitment Unit in UNICEF Supply Division and provide support in relation to workforce planning, surge support, emergency recruitment and staffing. The incumbent will also have the opportunity to support the planning and organizing of specific project activities within the unit.

Key functions and accountabilities:

  • Assist in Generic Vacancy Announcements, Covid-19 response, OMP recruitment process and regular recruitments including: advertising positions, sourcing and communicating with applicants and candidates, shortlisting, scheduling interviews, conducting interviews, guiding Hiring Managers on policies and procedures, facilitating approval processes, following up on references and academic verifications, candidate feedback sessions and initial offer letters.
  • Support actions related to UNICEFs Talent Management System (TMS), such as advertising, securing access to Hiring Managers, guiding Managers on TMS questions etc.
  • Contributing to recruitment strategies including simplification of existing processes, establishment of recruitment plans and preparations for the implementation of new recruitment policy provisions.
  • Management of on the internships and volunteer programme
  • Support in analyzing and communicating HR data to help inform decision making on HR processes and strategies.
  • Replying to general inquiries on employment opportunities and conditions of service.

Required:

  • Valid work permit and residency in Denmark at the time of submitting the application. Note that the selected candidate is responsible for obtaining any required extension of their residence permit as such an extension cannot be dependent on an employment with UNICEF
  • Completion of secondary education
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in human resources administration, preferably from a multicultural environment of any other large organisation with established HR systems, policies and procedures.
  • Good knowledge and skill in using HR systems
  • Fluency in English

Desirable:

  • University level courses in human resources management
  • Good knowledge of HR principles, rules, regulations and procedures
  • Working knowledge of UN policies and procedures
  • Proficiency in another UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish)
