UNICEF Bangladesh Country office (BCO) has more than 320 staff and 100+ consultants, UNV and Interns spread over country office based in Dhaka and 7 field offices. One of the field office, Cox’s Bazaar is the largest field office with more than 100+ staff working on a L1 protracted emergency. While there is a dedicated HR position in CXB, BCO HR is responsible to provide full range of HR support to CO in Dhaka as well as the field offices.

How can you make a difference?

Under the close supervision and guidance of the Human Resources Chief, the Human Resources Assistant provides administrative, procedural and operational support and assistance to the efficient implementation of a broad range of Human Resources functions for all categories of staff in his/her office, ensuring accurate and timely delivery that is in compliance with UNICEF HR rules and regulations.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

The following minimum requirements:

• Completion of secondary education, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses related to the field of work.

*A bachelor’s degree from a recognized academic institution in a field relevant to the position (HR, International Relations, Social Sciences, Business Administration) may replace three years of related work experience.

• A minimum of 5 years (2 years with a bachelor’s degree) of progressively responsible administrative or clerical work experience required.

• Fluency in English and Bangla is required.

Skills:

Technical

• Good knowledge of HR principles, rules, regulations and procedures within the UN.

• Computer literacy and the ability to effectively use standard office software tools as well as good knowledge and skill in using HR systems.

• Ability to extract and format data and to solve operational problems.

• Ability to organize own work, set priorities and meet deadlines.

Interpersonal and communication

• Takes responsibility to respond to internal and external service needs promptly and proactively; takes initiative to ensure that deadlines, rules and regulations are met. Uses own discretion to address unforeseen situations.

• Demonstrates a high degree of confidentiality, initiative and good judgment.

• Demonstrates courtesy, tact, patience and ability to work effectively with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

The following desirables:

• Prior experience in HR roles, preferably in an international or humanitarian organization context, would be advantageous.

• Experience in a client service role will be preferred.

• Experience in data management, analysis and presentation including advance knowledge of Excel, Power BI, PPT will be a strong asset.

• Experience in HR Business Partnering support will be an asset.

• Experience in event management/training management will be an added advantage.

• Experience in working with HR ERP systems (such as SAP), talent management/performance management/learning, HRIS systems will be an asset.
