OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

The purpose of this position is to support Human Resources administration and day-to-day operations covering a broad range of human resources functions in response to health emergencies. The Human Resources (HR) assistant carries out administrative responsibilities in some or all the following functional areas: roster management, sourcing, recruitment, deployment, induction/briefings, benefits and contracts administration. The incumbent will be deployed to emergency operations when required.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

  1. Perform the administration and operational requirements of all selection and recruitment formalities for fixed and short-term staff in the professional and general services categories including drafting vacancy notices; advise and assist technical unit in the preparation and submissions of selection reports for approval; ensure all arrangements for interviewing and testing of prospective candidates are made; and oversee the recruitment and selection process;
  2. Carry out pre-recruitment, pre-boarding and onboarding formalities in a timely manner and in accordance with rules and regulations;
  3. Draft and review post descriptions for new and vacant positions against existing post descriptions; identify changes and notify the WHE HR Officer. Review requests for reclassification of General Service posts and prepare background documentation for action;
  4. initiation and coordination of trainings, orientations, briefings. Ensuring that mandatory trainings are completed timely;
  5. Update records on staff list regularly to ensure accuracy of information;
  6. Timely initiate HRAPs for reassignments/redeployments/terminations and extensions of short-term and fixed term appointments at least 3 months before the expiry date. Ensuring that performance evaluation reports for staff are concluded and medical clearances are received timely.
  7. Perform any other related duties/responsibilities as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education Qualifications

*Essential: Completion of secondary school supplemented by training in administrative or human resource management.

Desirable: Additional relevant higher education an advantage.

Experience

*Essential: A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in human resources management or administrative work.

Desirable: Experience working in international environment or institution, preferably in the area of human resource management. A sound knowledge of the WHO Staff Regulations and Staff Rules, procedures and practices as it relates to the work.

Skills

Ability to acquire sound knowledge of WHO rules, regulations and procedures especially regarding recruitments; computer proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel, supplemented by knowledge of GSM and report writing skills. Ability to develop and maintain good relations with people of different nationalities at various levels

Essential: Excellent knowledge of English

Desirable: Working knowledge of another UN language would be an advantage.

REMUNERATION WHO offers staff in the General Services category an attractive remuneration package, which for the above position includes an annual net base salary starting at DKK 325,785 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
