Duties and Responsibilities

The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is the UN headquarters in Africa and the representative office of the Secretary-General. UNON supports programme implementation of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) globally, as well as other UN offices in Kenya, by providing administrative, conference and information services (www.unon.org). The Talent Acquisition Unit (TAU) in Nairobi is the Organization’s unit committed to recruiting, retaining, and developing talented staff members to fulfill the mandates of UNON, UNEP, UN-Habitat and Resident Coordinator System/Development Coordination Office (DCO). The TAU internship is located in Nairobi, Kenya.

The Talent Aquisition Unit internship is for 6 months.

The internship is UNPAID and full-time.

Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.

Under the direct supervision of the cluster team lead, the intern will: - Generating, digitizing, and maintaining documentation for staff and non-staff recruitment. - Collecting data from various sources, such as databases and spreadsheets, and ensuring its accuracy. - Cleaning and transforming raw data for analysis purposes. - Conducting statistical analysis and data mining to identify trends and patterns in the data. - Creating clear and easy-to-understand data visualizations like charts and graphs. - Assisting in the development of workflows and procedures for recruitment processes. - Providing support for various activities, including creating memos, following up contracts, and official documents. - Collaborating in the design and improvement of archives and records keeping. - Recording relevant data related to the recruitment process in iNeed and keeping tickets up to date. - Supporting the implementation of SharePoint for document transfers. - Contributing to the enhancement of archives and records keeping for team documents. - Taking part in Common Back Office preparations, such as preparing recruitment workflows, setting up meetings and progress reports. - Performing other assigned duties as needed.

Qualifications/special skills

Applicants must at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements:

a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher),

b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent),

c. Have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent.

Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office).

Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.

Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Preferred areas of studies: Bachelor's in Human Resource Management, Administration, Computer Science, Communication or any other related studies.

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.

Languages
