The selected candidate will work closely with Human Resource Officer and will be an integral part of the team supporting with various HR initiatives includig around HR communication, staff well-being, recruitment and diversity, equity & inlcusion of the team. The primary responsibility of the incumbent will be to share knowledge, organize information and work with all HR Team members to produce various HR communication products and contribute to ongoing initiatives and projects as needed.

Under the direct supervision of Human Resource Officer, the UN University Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

• Contributes qualitative content to the quarterly HR Bulletin • Supports in designing the quarterly HR Bulletin • Develops communication materials, forms & surveys for Staff Communication • Helps in preparing orientation materials for new hires • Supports the HR Team with ongoing initiatives as needed • Assists in organizing employee engagement activities such as team-building events, social gatherings, and recognition programs • Gathers feedback from employees through surveys or focus groups to assess morale and satisfaction • Conducts research on HR best practices and makes recommendations as needed • Conducts research on emerging HR trends or issues and present findings to the HR Team • Works on updating our SharePoint with relevant information • Works on improved knowledge management approaches • Supports with recruitment as needed (by updating and maintaining our Recruitment tracker, by conducting analysis of the possible bottlenecks and how to address them and by supporting with assessment centres).

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to:

• Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for in-stance in events that mark International Volunteer Day); • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country; • Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities; • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.; • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers; • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

• Demonstrated interest and/or experience in Human Resources • Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded; • Interest of working with various digital communication tools and applications.

The city has developed infrastructure, accommodation and required services and facilities. The country also has significant international presence of UN, NGOs and Diplomatic Missions.

The Security Level in Bangladesh is classified as Phase 1 (Precautionary) of the UN Security Plan. Different types of short and long-term accommodation are available in Dhaka standalone houses, houses in gated compounds, apartments. These could be furnished and/or fully serviced, or unfurnished.

Work opportunities for spouses/partners are limited. However, if hired by any organization a work permit must be applied for through the same hiring organization and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government. UNICEF office also have support services for this.
