Contract

This is a G-5 contract. This kind of contract is known as General Service and related categories. It is normally only for nationals. It usually requires 5 years of experience, depending on education. More about G-5 contracts.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

CSUs have been established in the organisational structure to provide support for Managers and staff to fully assume their responsibilities in the GSM environment and to ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, rules and regulations.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Providing relevant HR information and initiating transactions in GSM; Initiate position action; Initiate Hiring and staffing actions, including requesting vacancy notices and hiring of consultants and APWs; Contract Management according to changes in status actions; Advise on reasons of HRAP rejections; Support staff in initiating TRs for statutory travels (Processing of staff entitlements); Support staff in the use of the staff self-service module (GSM end-users).; Monitoring and Reporting of HR Actions; Monitoring transactions initiated, appointments coming to an end and that need to be extended, separation actions for a timely action on the part of managers and staff; Liaise with HR counterparts in HRM/AFRO and GHR to ensure a proper follow up on actions initiated.; Leave Administration; Serve as back up to the team members in similar or different positions within the RSU.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: Completion of secondary school. Knowledge of general administrative and HR Policy theory and procedures. Desirable: Training in UN/HR systems is an advantage. Proven skills in drafting and editing required.

Experience

Essential: 5 years of experience in Human Resources and preferably with several years' experience in WHO in an administrative cluster to have a sound knowledge of its rules, regulation, procedures and practices as related to the work.Relevant experience in the UN Agencies and/or NGOs is an advantage. Desirable: Use of word processing or other software packages, and standard office equipment. Training in the use of standard office software. Training in Oracle-based or other ERP systems an asset.

Skills

Maintaining up to date knowledge on any changes to Staff Regulations and Rules and standard operating procedures; Maintain computer skills including skills expertise in the GSM; Knowledge of WHO rules, regulations, policies and practices.

Essential: Expert knowledge of English. Desirable: Beginners knowledge of French. Expert knowledge of Local language.

REMUNERATION

WHO offers staff in the General Services category an attractive remuneration package, which for the above position includes an annual net base salary starting at ZMW 337,225 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
