Job Description

IRC opened an office in Seattle in 1976 and provides a continuum of services including intensive case management, employment and economic empowerment services, immigration assistance, health and wellness programming, and education support to refugee and immigrant families in Washington State. In late 2021, IRC Washington was authorized by the Federal Government to open a new office site in Spokane

Job Overview: The Housing Specialist will ensure that refugee families are supported with safe, affordable housing and household supplies. In coordination with IRC Spokane’s Resettlement team, the Housing Specialist will assist in the procurement of permanent and temporary housing for clients in accordance with established program guidelines. The Specialist will be responsible for securing housing, coordinating supply deliveries, and set ups and ensuring all required household supplies are present.

Major Responsibilities:

- Assist in the procurement of safe, appropriate, and affordable housing for clients. - Assist in the application of housing, arrangement of temporary housing, communication with resettlement team any updates, support clients in lease signings. - Coordinate with resettlement and logistics to ensure all required household supplies. Deliver supplies, arrange in the home and complete accompanying paperwork. - Assist clients in the establishment of utilities. - Complete case notes related to all housing and set up activities and completion of related forms. - Attend team and office meetings, participate in collective team and office efforts; comply with all IRC and local office policies and practices. - Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

- Relevant degree or equivalent experience - English proficiency, both spoken and written, and professional proficiency in relevant languages (i.e., Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Dari, Pashto, Tigrinya, Arabic, Ukrainian, Russian) preferred - Ability to document client interactions and services provided and maintain updated and accurate documentation. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite - Effective time management skills and ability to focus and work productively in a fast-paced environment. - Demonstrated ability to work as a team member in a multi-cultural environment. - Valid driver’s license and insurance - Committed to anti-racism and continual learning and growth. - Access to reliable transportation to travel throughout the service delivery area

Working Environment:

- Standard, professional office environment (currently remote) - May require occasional weekend and /or evening work.
